The Arizona Wildcats will travel to California on Thursday night for an exciting contest against the Cal Golden Bears.
Arizona, who’s #4 in the nation, should come away with the win here and improve upon their 21-3 overall and 10-3 Pac-12 record.
Cal comes in at just 3-20 overall and 2-10 in the Pac-12, sitting as arguably the worst Power 5 team in America this season.
However, these Pac-12 teams get interesting, and anything can truly happen.
The Wildcats come in as a major favorite on the spread, and rightfully so. They sit at -18.5 on the spread line, which is a huge line to cover in a conference game.
Will Arizona Cover the Heavy Spread?
There’s a reason why many believe that the Arizona Wildcats are the best team in America this season. Not only have they dominated throughout the season, but they’ve also won six in a row and might be the hottest team that college basketball has to offer. Their recent wins have been impressive as well, beating USC, UCLA, Washington State, Washington, Oregon, and Oregon State. All of those teams are impressive, and Arizona beating them deserves a ton of respect.
The one player to look out for is Azuolas Tubelis. The junior forward out of Lithuania has been incredible this season and has a chance to win the Player of the Year award. He’s averaging 20.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and shooting over 57% from the field.
California Could Lose by 25
The California Golden Bears have been the complete opposite of Arizona this season. The Wildcats have been arguably the best in America, while California has arguably been the worst out of a major team. Two wins in the Pac-12 is horrible, but when factoring in that they only have three wins overall, things look much worse. Losing 20 games in general is never going to be looked at as a positive, especially when February just started.
Furthermore, they’ve now lost seven games in a row and will likely lose their eighth in a row on Thursday night. Unless a miracle happens, California can start getting ready for the offseason and find a way to bring in players that can make an impact for them.
Arizona Wildcats vs. California Golden Bears Prediction
Playing a big spread like this one is never looked at as a good thing in college basketball because college kids can always come out slow. However, if there’s not a better time than now to play a huge spread, we might never see the right time.
Arizona should come and beat California with ease from the start of the game and finish that off with an impressive 20-plus point win. This line might even be a bit off considering that Cal has lost to Oregon, Oregon State, and Stanford by more points than this spread currently is. The Wildcats should win this one by 20-plus. If they don’t, it will be a disappointing showing for them.
