Braves Offense Elite
The Atlanta Braves continue to mash the baseball. Despite scoring just 13 runs in the three-game series against the Brewers, their 550 runs is third in all of baseball. The Braves are also hitting .267 as a team. Ozzie Albies came through clutch on Sunday, as he hit a three-run home run late in the game. The Braves have hit the most home runs in all of Major League Baseball.
There were not many hotter than Austin Riley at the plate over the last week or so. Riley went 10-21 over a five-game stretch and hit 6 home runs, and drove in 16 runs during that stretch. Riley now is at 22 home runs, and 61 runs batted in, with an average of .270 on the season. Ronald Acuna is still second in all of the National League with his.332 batting average.
Charlie Morton will get the baseball for the Atlanta Braves. Morton is a 39-year-old veteran that has 10 wins on the season. Morton is 10-7, 3.36 in 2023. The right-hander from New Jersey has made 19 starts this season, pitching 109 innings, allowing 104 hits and 41 earned runs. His last start was at home against Arizona, where he allowed 6 hits and 4 runs over 5.2 innings pitched.
Red Sox Wanting Strong Push
Despite the struggles of 2023, the Boston Red Sox are not out of the playoff picture. The Red Sox know with a strong push, they will be in a spot as August and September arrive. The Red Sox used a home run from Rafael Devers and two runs batted in from Adam Duvall in the win over the Mets on Sunday.
The Red Sox are led by Masataka Yoshida and his .315 batting average. Rafael Dever has been strong on the offensive side as well for Boston. Dever has 24 bombs and has driven in 74 runs. The Red Sox as a team are hitting .265 as a team, which ranks third in all of Major League Baseball.
Boston has yet to name a starting pitcher for this game on Tuesday.
Braves Top Red Sox in Opener
Charlie is an underrated starting pitcher in Major League Baseball. There is a reason he is still around and getting starts every five days. He also has 10 wins on the season. Look for another strong outing from the 39-year-old in this game. Morton throws well, and Boston beats the Braves here. Taking Atlanta -1.5 is the way to go here, unless the Red Sox can find Cy Young to make the start.
