Atlanta Hawks at San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview

Atlanta’s record looks terrible on paper, but in actuality, they are competing hard each and every night. Trae Young hit a go-ahead shot late, and the eventual game-winner against the Bucks the other night, and it was not the first time he has come through clutch during his rookie season. He has a real case against Doncic for ROY.

San Antonio, on the other hand, has locked up their playoff spot for a 22nd consecutive year under Gregg Popovich. This team has a very hard time losing too many games in a season, as their long streak will continue!

Hawks:

It was pretty clear coming in to the year that the Hawks were a work in progress. As the season got going, the team started extremely slow and looked like they might be in the running for the top pick. Actually, they are #12 in the East, and should still get a very good draft selection. Trae Young has more than impressed us with his wild stats, double-doubles, 30-foot threes, and game-winning shots left and right. John Collins has also been exceptional while healthy, as they of these will be who the team will be building around.

The issue with the Atlanta Hawks is not their ability to score. They are #11 in the league in that category. It is undoubtedly their defense, as they allow a league-worst 119 points per game. It’s hard to be a consistent winner when you have to score as much as the Warriors do on a nightly basis just to pick up any wins. John Collins will miss tonight’s contest, as Atlanta is without six players. Look for the newly-signed Isaac Humphries to get some minutes with Deyonta Davis.

Spurs:

They might be the single team in the NBA that isn’t knocking down threes at a high rate and doesn’t really care. All of the guys that they have who can shoot the long ball (Bertans, Mills Belinelli, Gay) come off the bench. All of them, that is, except for Bryn Forbes. They care so little about the direction the league is going in that they start Jakob Poetl with LaMarcus Aldridge, and they both play big minutes. They are smack in the middle of the pack, #16 in scoring and #15 in points against. They take the fewest threes but shoot it at the highest %, for what it’s worth.

San Antonio is playing their next few games to determine their spot in this year’s postseason. And while Gregg Popovich is the coach who began “resting” players, do not expect him to do it the rest of the way. No way Jose.

Spurs dominate Atlanta, get their 45th win of the year

San Antonio is 30-9 at home this year, as the crowd has been behind them, and they have failed to fall here. They have also used the bats as an opponent distraction. They will without a doubt cover the spread, so be sure to bet SAS -11!
