For No. 8 Auburn, there is not much more than you can ask at the moment. They have taken each of their first three contests, and are looking to keep it going against a fellow nationally-ranked team. Auburn started the year off with a tough matchup against nationally-ranked Oregon and took care of business. Their defense shut down Tulane, while Kent State never truly had a chance. 4-0 is on the horizon.
It’s been a solid start to the season for the No. 17 Aggies under Jimbo Fisher, as they have won two of their first three contests. They have had two very easy games with Lamar and Texas State, But No. 1 Clemson gave them a lot of trouble, allowing them to score just 10 points and limiting their offense. They knew it would be a battle and one they would have to work extra hard to win, but it just did not come to fruition. On to the next.
The spread for this week’s matchup features the Aggies by four points (Texas A&M -4), with 55 percent of wagers thus far being placed on the favored group.
Tigers Try To Stay Perfect
Gus Malzahn and co. could not be in a better spot right now if they tried. They are undefeated, inside of the top 10 rankings for all teams in the country, while doing it with a true freshman at quarterback. So far so good for Bo Nix, with four touchdowns to two picks, throwing for 545 yards. He is barely completing over 50 percent of his passes, however, and his accuracy will need to be much better this week. He has already led a game-winning drive though, doing so in his debut against Oregon, so he should be okay.
Look for Marlon Davidson and Tyrone Truesdell to apply a lot of pressure from the outset on Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond, and for Jeremiah Dinson to also play a prominent role.
Aggies Look To Bounce Back
Playing their first tough opponent since losing to Clemson a couple of weeks ago, Texas A&M will be looking to bounce back relatively quickly. At 2-1, they need to at least fight hard to keep their spot in the national rankings. Mond has a 140.5 passer rating thus far, completing 64.9 percent of his passes, picking up 747 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. Isaiah Spiller has been running the ball well, gaining 246 yards on just 28 carries and scoring twice on the ground already.
They have recorded just five sacks through their three games and will have to be better. They need to apply a lot of pressure on Auburn if they truly hope to have a chance to win the game. Putting Nix on the ground will certainly help.
Auburn Falls Victim To Aggies
Make sure you ride with Mond and co., as Nix will not be able to help his team to the win this week.
