Week 9 of the NFL regular season is wrapping up with a new edition of Monday Night Football when the Baltimore Ravens go on the road to take on the New Orleans Saints.
The ride has been far from smooth for both of these teams as the year continues to chug away.
Lamar Jackson opened the season on an absolute tear, making him look like he was going to wind up being the most valuable player in the league.
Since then, it has been rough, and one injury after another has plagued the Ravens as their roster continues to be depleted on both sides of the ball.
The Saints have one of the most interesting locker rooms in all of football as they opened the year with Jameis Winston, but have stuck with Andy Dalton since then and still feature Taysom Hill frequently enough.
These two teams don’t play each other often, but currently, the Ravens are favored on the road at -2.5.
Can Jackson return to MVP form?
While the Ravens still have one of the better records in the league, they really are in desperate need of a superhuman game from Lamar Jackson to win on Monday.
They are down two of their top pass catchers in Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews, so Jackson may have to rely more on his running ability than he is used to.
That isn’t to say that this game is going against the impossible, but to say you can accurately predict which Saints team will show up would be foolish.
We certainly know Jackson has it in him, but it is time to dig deep and find it before this game.
Putting together the different pieces of the New Orleans Saints
If you ask who has the most hodge-podge group out there each week, the Saints have to be the front-runner as a team with a number of different question marks.
Their quarterback situation has been head-scratching as Andy Dalton seems to have taken over for Jameis Winston despite only low to moderate success.
It remains unclear if it is a trust factor with Winston or if the Saints feel more confident with Dalton at the helm.
Either way you slice it, switching leaders for any team and continually leaving the door open for either to play is a rough look to follow in the locker room.
Betting Predictions
There is no crystal ball solution for the outcome of this game. Of all the games happening this week, this one is near the top of being the least predictable.
With the Ravens being down so many members of their squad, it would be easy to say that they will come up short in this game and lose to the Saints.
Lamar Jackson has it in him to put the team on his back in prime time. Take the Ravens on the road at -2.5.
