A huge SEC West battle highlights a terrific slate of college football games this weekend. Number seven ranked Auburn will host number 12 ranked LSU in a big-time rivalry game on Saturday afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The winner will take over first place in the SEC West and will have an inside track on the College Football Playoffs.
Auburn kicked off their season by defeating the University of Washington in a top-10 showdown. LSU also had an impressive season opener, upsetting Miami University in convincing fashion to put the nation on notice. The winner of this game will move to 3-0 with the loser falling to 2-1. Auburn is a huge favorite in this game, coming in at -10.5.

Auburn Offense Can Be Explosive
The Auburn roster is full of playmakers, and that playmaking ability has shown up already this season. Auburn already has double-digit plays of 20 or more yards this season and is averaging more than 40 points per game this season. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham has a chance of winning the Heisman Trophy this season but will need a solid game against LSU on Saturday. Auburn might need a few big plays against LSU to earn the win in this game.
Auburn finished top-15 in the nation last season ins yards allowed and total points, and look to be even better this season. The Auburn defensive line is one of top units in college football led by Derrick Brown and Dontavius Russell. The Tigers have already recorded nine sacks this season but will be tasked with stopping LSU’s running attack in this game. The battle in the trenches could decide the outcome in this one.
LSU Secondary Making Noise
LSU also features a terrific defense, but their best players are in their secondary. Greedy Williams might be the best cornerback in the country and will be a future top ten pick in the NFL Draft. The Tigers also have three big and fast linebackers that will play a huge role in stopping the run in this game. Auburn’s offense might be explosive, but LSU’s defense will be up for the challenge in this one.
Quarterback Joe Burrow has shown flashes of greatness this season but has lacked consistency for the Tigers. The former Ohio State QB has completed just 47% of his passes this season but has thrown for a pair of touchdowns. Senior running back Nick Brossette is having a breakout season after finally getting a chance to start. Brossette has ran for 262 yards and two touchdowns this season. LSU will need to have a balanced offensive attack against a terrific Auburn defense in this game.
Auburn Wins Defensive Battle
This game should be extremely physical, and neither defense will give up much on offense. Auburn has the most offensive talent, but LSU has some guys capable of stepping up and making plays.
Look for the LSU defensive secondary to completely shut down the Auburn passing attack, and Auburn shut down LSU’s running game. Neither team will be able to run away from the other in this contest. This game will be single digits, and so giving LSU +10.5 points is way too much. Take the points and bet LSU in this game.
