The Baylor Bears and Central Florida Knights are set to square off in Big 12 Basketball play on Wednesday. The Baylor Bears are 14-5 on the season, but have dropped three straight games. The most recent loss for Baylor was a triple overtime thriller at home to TCU on Saturday.
For Central Florida, they are 12-7 on the season. In their first season since joining the Big 12, they have been up and down, including a home win over Kansas. Last week, the Knights lost on the road at Cincinnati.
The Baylor Bears are -2.5 on the road at Central Florida. The total is 139.5.
Bears Looking to Get Back on Track
The Baylor Bears have not won a game since the 62-59 win at home over Cincinnati on January 13th. The first loss was by four on the road at Kansas State, then by a bucket at Texas, before the three overtime loss at home to TCU. Baylor had just two non conference losses; to Michigan State and Duke.
In the loss to TCU Yves Missi scored 25 points and ripped down 9 rebounds. RayJ Dennis also added 24 points in the game. On the season Ja’Kobe Walter leads the way with 15.2 points per game. Missi is at 10.3 per game, and Dennis is 13.3. The Bears, as a team, are scoring 85.1 points per game.
Baylor will host Iowa State and Texas Tech to start the month of February. Following that, the Bears have a big road game at Kansas on February 10th.
Up and Down January for Central Florida
The Central Florida Knights are 3-4 in the month of January. It has been an up and down month in which they have not won back to back games. The Knights non conference resume was quite weak with no signature win to boast come tournament time.
Central Florida has been inconsistent offensively. The Knights are scoring just 71.9 points per game. The top scorer for Central Florida this season has been Jaylin Sellers. He is scoring 17.2 points per game. Darius Johnson is the only other Knights player to score double digits per game. He is at 12.6.
Next up for the Knights is a home game against Oklahoma on Saturday. Following that, Central Florida will go on the road for back to back games. First, they will play at Texas Tech, and then will travel to Brigham Young.
Knights Shine in the Sunshine State
Central Florida has been fun to watch when they are playing well. The Baylor Bears have got to be a little shell shocked following that wild loss last week.
