The top 50 golfers on the PGA Tour will get together this weekend at Olympia Fields Country Club, just outside of Chicago, for the BMW Championship. This is the second to last event on the PGA Tour, with the Tour Championship next week in East Lake.
Let’s take a quick look at the 2023 Betting Preview for the BMW Championship. Let’s take a look at some of the favorites.
Rory Mcllroy +600
Mcllroy rallied to have a really solid weekend at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. His 65 on the final day moved into third place. Rory was great off the tee and also with his approach all weekend, but he needs improvement around the green.
Mcllroy made big strides toward the top of the standings. He comes into the event third in the FedEx Cup standings.
Scottie Scheffler +700
Mr. Consistent continues to make cuts on the season but has fallen off a little in the last two events, finishing 23rd and 31st. The biggest problem for Scheffler as of late has been a putter.
This past weekend, he used a different putter, but it did not yield better results. Scheffler is currently 2nd in the standings coming into the event.
Jon Rahm +800
It was a struggle for Rahm at Memphis. He eventually finished 37th in the event, but it certainly was not up to his normal standards. Rahm’s best was around the green, but it still just ranked him 25th in the event.
Rahm leads the FedEx Cup Standings heading into the event. He would love to regain the magic of 2020 when he had a playoff victory over Dustin Johnson at this course.
Patrick Cantlay +1000
Cantlay finished runner-up in Memphis after back-to-back finishes out of the Top 30. He was great at Tee to Green all weekend long, in fact, the best in the event.
He is frustrated not to pick up a win all season, but his results have been there, with seven Top 10 finishes. Cantlay is 5th in the FedEx Cup Standings.
Viktor Hovland +1400
Hovland finished 13th last weekend at Memphis and now has two back-to-back Top 15 finishes. He started Sunday red hot with birdies in three of his first five holes. This was a notable difference from his poor performance of a 72 on round one.
Hovland was fifth in his approach for the tournament. The 25-year-old sits pretty for this event and the final event as he sits at 7th in the standings heading into this event.
Xander Schauffele +1600
Schauffele has 9 Top 10 finishes on the season. In Memphis, he started with a 66 but then went 68, 70, and 69 to come away with a 24th-place finish.
The San Diego native has been near the top in all categories for strokes gained on the course. Schauffele sits 19th in the Fed Ex Cup standings heading into this event.
Others in Consdieration:
- Tommy Fleetwood +2000 – Currently sits 10th in the FedEx Cup Standings.
- Tyrell Hatton +2200 – 26th in the standings, so needing a solid weekend to stay inside.
- Collin Morikawa +2200 – Morikawa is currently 22nd in the standings.
- Max Homa +2200 – Ranks 6th in the latest FedEx Cup Standings.
- Jordan Spieth +2500 – Another that needs a good weekend, as he is 27th currently.
- Rickie Fowler +3000 – Fowler sits in 12th in the current standings.
