For the only action on Thursday, the Boston Celtics will be on the road to take on the Atlanta Hawks in another chance at a close-out of their first-round series.
In times like these, the real championship-level teams are proven in the NBA Playoffs, and the Boston Celtics have a test to pass as the title favorites.
Can the Celtics close out what is in front of them? They failed to do so in game five on their home court, and it was reminiscent of the times Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been on the floor for Boston.
Trae Young was magnificent in the fourth quarter, and he capitalized on every single mistake that Boston made in their turnovers and their coverage on defense.
It was all capped off with an ice-cold three-pointer to go ahead by two in the closing seconds of the game.
Ahead of the game six matchup, the Boston Celtics draw the favorite on the road at -5.5 over the Atlanta Hawks.
Choking away an easy victory
Winning in game five would have accomplished two different things, the Celtics would have earned more rest for their players, and the series with Philadelphia would have started two days sooner.
All of that is now off the table, and now Boston gets another chance on Thursday night to close out the Hawks for good.
The offense has not been a problem in this series, and for the most part, the Celtics are able to get whatever shot they want, no matter who is handling the ball.
If they care anything about their pride, the defense is what will step up in this game to make things difficult for Atlanta.
Riding on the back of Trae Young all over again
For a few years now, the Hawks and Trae Young have provided more than a couple of entertaining series and continue to play above their weight class.
Even without Dejounte Murray on the floor due to a suspension, the Hawks rallied late and were able to come up clutch in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter.
For being one of the craziest first-rounds of the NBA Playoffs that we have seen in a while, the Hawks are adding fuel to the fire.
Murray will be poised to have a big game six and make this a statement for him as a player, and Trae Young will continue to dazzle all spectators with his shot-making abilities.
Celtics at Hawks Betting Prediction
The Celtics have been favored in every game of this first-round matchup against Atlanta, and rightfully so.
They have more depth, more talent, and more experience as a core in the playoffs than the Hawks, but the effort battle has been won by Atlanta so far.
That isn’t to say the series is over or that Atlanta has taken control, but it does show that Boston needs to wake up if they want a chance to get some much-needed rest for the long haul.
Take Boston as the favorite at -5.5 but be on the lookout for Young and Murray to have big games.
