Boston and Miami will battle on Thursday night in a game featuring a pair of teams coming in off wins. The Celtics were able to take care of the Magic, coming from behind and putting on a two-way clinic in the third quarter. And Miami was able to better the Mavericks in a game that featured plenty of three-point shooting.
Boston improved to 3-5 with that victory, and now entering the second half of a back-to-back, are able to try and build some quick momentum. There will always be murmurs when a team is losing out of the gate, especially when it has as much talent as these Celtics do. But winning is always going to make things better, and Ime Udoka and his club will be just fine.
As for the Heat, they took last season very personal. They got swept by Milwaukee in the opening round of the playoffs and made some big personnel moves to come into this season, adding P.J. Tucker and Kyle Lowry. Markieff Morris and Caleb Martin have been playing quality minutes with their new club, too.
In a game featuring all of this star-power, it is whoever can get off to a good start in the second half that will emerge with the victory. At the end of the day, it’s just another game, but teams need to establish a rhythm.
Betting Odds & Lines
The spread for Thursday is set at MIA -7. The over/under is 215.5 points. The BOS moneyline is +230, while MIA is -282.
Boston Aiming for Win Streak
After a win against Orlando, it’s a battle with a team on the other side of Florida, now. Boston is going to face the Heat, a team they have plenty of history with, in a contest that may carry a lot of meaning for them, whether it is for better or worse.
There is no issue with the talent on the team or even how the rotations have played out. But there has been a sort of problem with losing a lot, so a defeat would drop them to 3-6 and could have guys starting to point fingers again.
Look for the Jay’s, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown to have dominant performances.
Miami Seeking Key Victory
The Heat have gone 6-1 this year to begin and are playing at a high level. They have gotten a lot out of Tyler Herro, which was going to be a major key for them coming in. He faded into the background in the late stages of last season and really didn’t author much assistance.
In adding Tucker and Lowry, they brought in two elite defenders who can also make timely plays within the offense. Lowry hit some clutch triples to close out the Mavs, while Tucker played his tough brand of defense on the perimeter, as well as in the paint.
Look for Bam Adebayo and Robert Williams III to battle down low.
Heat Win, Again
Now 7-1, Miami is looking forward. The Celtics’ loss will happen since they’ll fail to make their threes.
