After a swirling bit of controversy in their Saturday night victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Boston Celtics take their home floor again when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
Each game the Celtics have been missing one or two key rotation players like Marcus Smart and Robert Williams who have both been nursing injuries. A return to a fully healthy lineup will hopefully come sooner rather than later.
The same could be said for Brooklyn Nets, who have been missing Kevin Durant for a few weeks now, but he just began full-scale running this week, which is a positive movement for his development.
These two teams met each other last season in the playoffs, with the Celtics sweeping the Nets four games to none.
Even with the lopsided result last year, there is a high level of respect for both of these rosters, and it will showcase on Wednesday night.
The Nets come in as underdogs, as the Celtics are favored on their home court at -8.5.
Finding ways to produce without Kevin Durant
The learning experience for Brooklyn without Kevin Durant in the lineup is a good one, as they need to be able to produce more offense when he is not in the game.
It gives more opportunity for others to step up to the plate, and shooters like Joe Harris and Seth Curry need to be able to hit their shots as well as handle some creation if necessary.
Kyrie Irving has turned his season around from the rough start at the beginning of the year, and he continues to showcase why he is one of the most gifted scorers we have ever seen.
The team is scrappy and has a chance in Boston.
Continuing to file for his MVP campaign
As the season carries on, Jayson Tatum still finds himself amongst the top three for the MVP conversation and has a heck of a campaign that he has thrown together.
The Celtics have the top record in the Eastern Conference, and they have been able to find ways to beat teams each night.
It isn’t always Tatum as the leading scorer, and different role players can step up in a pinch like Malcolm Brogdon did in their win over the Lakers.
It’s a fun team to watch, and they will definitely serve as one of the favorites to win the NBA title.
Nets @ Celtics Betting Prediction
Division opponents can always make for fun games as the two teams just end up knowing each other so well, especially at this point of the season.
There is a lot to love on both of these rosters, and we have seen the peaks and valleys all season long from both the Nets and the Celtics.
It is a shame that Durant won’t be able to suit up for this matchup against Tatum, but we will get to see them go at it again. For now, roll with the Celtics on their home court at -8.5.
