We have an exciting basketball game on Sunday night as the Brooklyn Nets will be taking on the Golden State Warriors. Many believe that these two teams have an opportunity of meeting in the NBA Finals when it’s all said and done, so we should see them going at it just like two championship contenders typically do. Although the Nets are going to be without Kevin Durant, they were able to come away with a huge win against the Utah Jazz in their most recent game as superstar Kyrie Irving went off for 48 points in just 39 minutes. Golden State has also struggled this season, but most of their struggles have come on the road. They’re currently 17-5 on their home court and that could be telling in this game.
Do the Warriors Protect Home Court?
With the way the Warriors have been playing on the road, they realize that every game on their home court needs to be taken care of. If they want any chance of even possibly making the playoffs at this point and having a somewhat decent seed, they’re going to have to start figuring it out on the road, but this isn’t the game that we have to worry about that.
Golden State has arguably been the best team at home this season and that’s why they’re still afloat in the Western Conference standings. It’s expected that all of their players are going to be active in this one and that’s perfect news for them considering that Brooklyn does have some injuries to some major players. If their guys come out and do what they should, we could see the Warriors win this game by 10-plus points. Golden State is currently a 7.5-point favorite and while that is a few too many points, it might not be a bad idea that they’re favored that high.
Will Kyrie Irving and the Nets Win on the Road?
If Brooklyn wants any chance in this game, it’s all going to start on the defensive side of the basketball. The Warriors are like a well-oiled machine in terms of offense on their home court and they’re also starting to play a bit better through other guys besides Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Once that is fully underway, the Warriors are going to be even more difficult to beat.
They’re also going to have to find offense from someone and that’s all going to have to rely on Kyrie Irving. If Irving doesn’t come out and drop 30-plus points on high efficiency, they’re likely not going to win this game.
Brooklyn Nets vs Golden State Warriors Prediction
Considering the injury to Kevin Durant for the Brooklyn Nets and how well the Warriors have played on their home court this season, it certainly makes sense to back the Golden State squad in this one. They’ve been the better team on their home court throughout the entirety of the season and Brooklyn has also dealt with some major injuries. If this game was at full health, we could be seeing it maybe at a one-point line, but that isn’t the case here. The books are trying to tell us something here and they even possibly can see this one being a blowout.
