The Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche are all knotted up at one game apiece heading into game three of their best of seven series. Calgary looked sharp in a 4-0 game one victory, but the Avalanche were able to even the series with a 3-2 win in game two of the series. The Avalanche have now stolen home-ice advantage as we head to game three, but these teams are extremely competitive.
Both of these teams finished in the top-10 during the regular season in goals per game, and this should be a high-scoring series. There will be plenty of scoring opportunities that pop up during game three, and the goalies will likely play a huge role in deciding who wins the series. Calgary finished with 107 points during the regular season to win the Pacific Division, while Colorado snuck into the playoff field with 93 points. Calgary is -125 over the Avalanche in game three of the series.

Flames Can Really Score
The Calgary Flames want to get this game into an up-tempo style so their offense can take over. Calgary averaged 3.52 goals per game during the regular season, which was the second-best mark in the NHL. The Flames are converting just 19.3 percent of their power play chances, but they are deadly on even strength opportunities. The Flames are also allowing just 2.72 goals per game, and know how to shut down an opponent when necessary.
Left winger Johnny Gaudreau led the team with 36 goals, 63 assists, and 99 points during the regular season, but he has been quiet so far in the postseason. Center Sam Bennett has already recorded three points through the first two games and should pace the offense again. Goaltender Mike Smith is allowing just 1.40 goals per game and is capable of taking over this series.
Avalanche Terrific On Power Play
The Colorado Avalanche converted more than 22 percent of their power play chances during the regular season and that could be a huge edge in this series. Colorado averaged more than 3.1 goals per game, and they don’t have a problem playing an up-tempo game against the Flames. The Avalanche did give up close to three points per game during the regular season, and their defense could be an issue in this series.
Right winger Mikko Rantanen was forced to miss much of the end of the regular season, but he has been playing great in the postseason. Rantanen leads the team with two assists and two points while young Nathan MacKinnon has scored a goal for the Avalanche. Goaltender Philipp Grubauer has posted a 2.36 goals against average so far this playoffs and is capable of shutting down the Flames offense.
Flames Take Series Lead
Winning on the road in the NHL Playoffs is never an easy task, but the Flames have the team to do it. Calgary can score with any of their four offensive lines, and they are going to find a way to get it done in this game. The Avalanche are going to give away home-ice advantage with a game three loss.
