The Carolina Hurricanes will take on the New York Islanders in Game 6 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Hurricanes currently hold a 3-2 lead as they look to close it out on the road. This has been one of the best series of the first round, including three one-goal games.
Because of that, this could be a difficult game to bet on, given the fact that both of these teams have proven that they can compete with each other.
Carolina is clearly the better team on paper, but they haven’t necessarily played like the much better team in this series. The Islanders have continued competing with them, including a 5-1 win on their home ice in game 3.
The sportsbooks believe that the Islanders could possibly win this game as they come in as a slight favorite on the moneyline at -120. The Islanders will come in at +230 on the puck line, while the Hurricanes will come in at +100 on the moneyline and -275 on the puck line.
Can Caroline Close The Series Out?
The Carolina Hurricanes are expected to be a team that has a legitimate chance of winning a Stanley Cup. Although they’ve proven that they can do just that in this first series, they’re going to need to find a way to close this one out. The Islanders had an interesting regular season, finishing with the fourth most points in the Metropolitan Division and the seventh most points in the Eastern Conference. Carolina, on the other hand, had the most points in the Metropolitan Division and the second most in all of the Eastern Conference, only trailing the Boston Bruins.
This is a huge game 6 as they want to make sure that they can advance. Game 7’s are nothing to mess around with as one thing could go the other team’s way, and they could potentially lose. It would make sense if they realize that and come out and do everything that they possibly can to win this game.
Will The Islanders Protect Home Ice?
The New York Islanders continue to compete with the Carolina Hurricanes, and that makes for an interesting game 6. With this one being on their home ice, they need to do everything they possibly can to protect that and find a way to get the win.
If they want to win this game, they’re going to need all their top guys to make plays. This isn’t a Caroline team that’s going to roll over and not find a way to win on the road, so expect the Islanders to come out and do everything that they possibly can. Pierre Engvall has played well for New York in this series, as he’s currently a +5 on the ice in their five games played.
Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders Game 6 Betting Preview Prediction
While this game is going to be played in New York, it might not be a bad idea to think about taking the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are the better team, and while New York should find a way to slow them down, the Hurricanes have proven that they can win on the road at any given moment, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them do exactly that once again on Friday night.
