To kick off Week 10 of the NFL regular season, an NFC South rivalry will head our direction when the Carolina Panthers go on the road to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
These two teams have been part of a tumultuous NFC South, which is in the running for the most volatile division in all of football.
Earlier this season, the Panthers benched Baker Mayfield in favor of multiple different backups, but last week started Mayfield in the second half against the Bengals after the game was all but out of reach.
There is a lot to prove for Mayfield moving forward, but this might be a chance for him to show that he still has some energy left in the tank, and we will see how much longer P.J. Walker lasts.
The Falcons are a leader in rushing on the season, despite losing to the Chargers last week.
We saw an overtime thriller between these two teams just two weeks ago, and the spread favors Atlanta at home at -3.
Quarterback controversy for the worst record in the NFC
At a paltry 2-7 on the year, the Panthers are doing worse than some people even thought was possible with the acquisition of Mayfield in the offseason.
Fortunately for Carolina, they did not give up much to add him to the roster, but now they have more questions than answers across the board.
They held onto their defensive players at the deadline and kept intact most of their young core, but the Panthers seem to be worse off even after firing their head coach and getting rid of their star running back.
Getting revenge for their loss a few weeks ago could start their momentum in the right direction.
No quarterback hope for the Falcons in Atlanta
The sub-title might be a little bit misleading as Marcus Mariota has been serviceable, at least as a quarterback for this team.
However, the Falcons spent draft capital on Kyle Pitts and Drake London in the last two drafts and have yet to fully utilize them as part of the offense.
Whether or not this is due purely to scheme or the limitations of Mariota under center is up for debate, but the point is the Falcons have many questions to answer about their front office and style of play.
Running the ball can only carry you so far in these games, and at some point, Mariota will need to answer the bell.
Panthers @ Falcons Betting Prediction
Seeing how even these two teams played just two weeks ago will make this game even more interesting.
The Panthers fired away a desperation heave that looked like it would win the game, only to miss the extra point and fall short in overtime.
This would be the game their whole roster would be up for and ready to take revenge.
Despite that, roll with the Falcons at -3 on this one and the success of their rushing game against a poor-scoring offense.
