The National Football League once again was entertaining and saw some great action in Week 9. Sunday action finished with the Bengals topping the Bills in a huge AFC battle. The week will conclude on Monday Night Football with the New York Jets hosting the Los Angeles Chargers. Before that game, take a look at some of the best games in Week 9 that went down:
Kansas City Chiefs 21-14 over Miami Dolphins
It was not overly pretty for the Kansas City Chiefs in Frankfurt Germany, but it was a winner. The Chiefs took an early 21-0 lead, and held on to win the game 21-14. Patrick Mahomes threw for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the big story was holding the Dolphins passing game to just 193 yards in the game. Tyreke Hill settled with 62 receiving yards in the game, while Jaylen Waddle only had 42. The Chiefs are now 7-2, Kansas City drops to 6-2.
Houston Texans 39-37 over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
C.J. Stroud was amazing, with 470 passing yards, and five touchdowns in the game. That is a rookie record for a quarterback, passing Andrew Luck. The final touchdown was with 0:10 to go, as he hit Tank Dell for the second time in the end zone. The win was massive for Houston, because it moved them to 4-4 on the season, and kept pace in the tough AFC.
Cleveland Browns 27-0 over Arizona Cardinals
The first start for Clayton Tune under center for Arizona did not go well. In fact, it was miserable. Tune finished with just 58 passing yards and two interceptions, as Cleveland led the Cardinals have nothing. Cleveland’s offense saw Deshaun Watson come back and threw two touchdowns, while Kareem Hunt ran for one. The Browns went to 5-3, which was needed as Pittsburgh won Thursday, and the Ravens won on Sunday out of the AFC North.
Baltimore Ravens 37-3 over Seattle Seahawks
Speaking of the Ravens, there may not be a hotter team in the National Football League. Lamar Jackson did not even need to throw for a touchdown, but was effective enough to score 38 points. Odell Beckham caught his first touchdown as a member of the Ravens, and the defense held the Seattle offense to just a field goal. Rookie Keaton Mitchell had a career game with 9 carries, 138 yards and a touchdown.
Minnesota Vikings 31-28 over Atlanta Falcons
What a story – Joshua Dobbs was traded mid week from Arizona to Minnesota, did not get the start, but led the Vikings back to beat the Falcons. Dobbs went 20 of 30 for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the game. The final touchdown came with 0:27 to go to Brandon Powell to win the game. Minnesota is now 5-4, and have won four straight games. The Falcons with the loss dropped to 4-5 on the season.
Philadelphia Eagles 28-23 over Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys missed a two point conversion by stepping out of bounds, fell an inch short of a touchdown, and didn’t score at the end of the game when at the 5 yard line. All of that led to a Philadelphia Eagles 28-23 win over the Cowboys. Jalen Hurts went 17 of 23 for 207 yards and two touchdowns in the game. AJ Brown continued to stay hot with a touchdown in the game as well. Dallas, despite the loss, saw CeeDee Lamb come away with 191 yards.
Those are some of the best games that took place on Sunday. We look forward to the Monday Night Football game, and to start looking ahead at Week 10, and beyond in the National Football League.
