A new slate of NBA games renews on Tuesday, and one of the highlights will be the Charlotte Hornets on the road to take on the Phoenix Suns.
Charlotte is in contention to be the team with the worst record when the season concludes, while Phoenix has taken a pretty large fall from grace after their historic season last year.
The Suns are still currently without Devin Booker, but Chris Paul rejoined his team in their last game and turned back the clock. His play was sensational and gave them a much-needed boost.
Right now, the biggest focus of these two teams is the Suns trying to stay alive in a highly contested Western Conference. It would be great if the Hornets landed the number one overall pick, but the Suns are still the bigger story.
As such, the Hornets are easily road underdogs in this game, with the Suns favored on their home court at -7.5.
Fighting to keep their team relevant
It has been a tumultuous couple of seasons for the Charlotte Hornets, and their team has been plagued with injuries this year like no other.
Pretty much from the moment he signed a big deal with them, Gordon Hayward has been unable to remain healthy. To make matters worse, their all-star guard LaMelo Ball has suffered more than a few extensive injuries this season.
It makes for a rough rotation, and the team doesn’t get a lot of time to develop chemistry with one another. There are a few highlights on their roster, but most of what they have are fringe NBA players.
This will set them up nicely with a good draft pick, but that is about it.
Regaining control in the second half of the season
While the Suns have regressed overall this season, their team should not be this much worse than they were last season.
The main core of the team is still intact, albeit with Booker missing some extended time. Their bench has been bolstered slightly, so to be losing this many games is wildly disappointing.
There is still plenty of time to turn it all around and to rip off a good win streak, but they are going to have to figure something out sooner or later.
Hopefully Booker returns and looks just as strong as Chris Paul did in his recent return. If not, this team could be in danger of missing the playoffs.
Hornets @ Suns Betting Prediction
Even as you see the Hornets as massive double-digit underdogs against most of their opponents, it would still be hard to believe they have what it takes to win any road game.
A west coast visit for this team is less than ideal, and whoever they have trotting out there just won’t be able to get the job done against Phoenix.
Chris Paul should have free reign to control this game, and another big performance should be inbound. Take the Phoenix Suns on their home court at -7.5 to beat up on the Hornets.
