Sunday will mark a little history for Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields. It will be the first week he is the official starter for the future. It was uncertain the past two weeks if he could start or if Andy Dalton or Nick Foles would get a possible nod. Going against the Raiders now, it is officially his team and time to roll for the rookie.
Chicago has been up and down this year, but Fields looked incredible a week ago. He threw seemingly every ball to Darnell Mooney, and he was making catches on all of them. He was one of the most impressive wideouts in the whole league a week ago, and he and Allen Robinson will try and keep it going. Damien Williams takes over as RB1 with David Montgomery on the shelf for many weeks to come.
As for Las Vegas, they have Josh Jacobs in the lineup again. But they lost a thriller against the Chargers a week ago. Back on their home field, they are looking to return to the win column, a place they ended up after each of the first three games. It is pivotal for Derek Carr to bounce back after a pretty disappointing outing a week ago.
Betting Odds & Lines
The spread for Sunday’s game is set at LV -5.5. The over/under is sitting at 45 points. The LV moneyline is -247, and the CHI moneyline is +200.
Bears Seeking to Move Over .500
There has been a lot of disappointment in the NFC North so far this year. And believe it or not, Chicago is the second-best team in the division by record. Minnesota has lost a few heartbreakers, while the Lions are winless in the Jared Goff era. The team with the most dysfunction is only a single game out of first through the first quarter of the games.
But, here they come. Montgomery or not, they will need to continue to run the ball. Williams can be a solid option for them, having some big-game experience already. With all of the talent the team possesses on that end, it has to be better.
And the Raiders had the best watch out for old pal Khalil Mack. He will light it up.
Vegas Seeks 4-1 Start
At 3-1, the Raiders could not ask for a better start. Though Jon Gruden made headlines for some ‘racial’ remarks he made about former NFLPA President DeMaurice Smith; the team will keep their focus to Sunday. It is unclear if any action will be taken by the league office to step in.
The run game was not great, even with Jacob back a week ago. The fact is, they also hardly gave the ball to Kenyan Drake. Not as a running back or a receiver. They are wasting a guy who was an absolute beast in the past few years. They need to feed him sometimes.
As for their defense, it had best be ready to bring the pressure and keep Fields within the pocket.
Bears Win
The Raiders will lose a tight one at home, dropping them to 3-2.
