The Bulls head to Colorado to face off with the Nuggets on Friday night in what promises to be a great matchup. Chicago has been able to still play winning basketball with Nikola Vucevic out of the lineup, while Denver has struggled with several of their guys not on the floor. It is pretty much just Nikola Jokic and whoever decides to show up for a given game.
Chicago is sitting at 10-5 so far and have looked very good. The acquisitions of DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Alex Caruso have paid dividends, improving the squad on both ends of the floor, while DeMar is looking like an All-Star right now. He and Zach LaVine have been able to take pressure off the other and go on impressive scoring stretches.
As for the home team here, Michael Porter Jr. is going to be out for quite a while with back issues, which makes it puzzling that they signed him to that max extension after he had only really been with the team for two years. They won’t have Jamal Murray back anytime soon, and it seems that a lot of guys they have are not capable of handling large roles.
The good news is that they still have the reigning MVP. And he can pretty much win by himself if he’s at his best.
Betting Odds & Lines
The spread for Friday night’s game is set at DEN -4.5. The over/under is 211.5 points. The DEN moneyline is -175, and the CHI line is +145.
Bulls Seeking Eleventh Win
10-5 is a great start for the Bulls, all things considered. They have already lost Patrick Williams for the year, and Coby White has only played 18 minutes to this point. Nikola Vucevic is out with COVID-19 at the moment, and yet they have not fallen apart. They are competitive every game and have found ways to overcome their shortcomings.
It was a tremendous offseason for them, and getting Zach LaVine this type of help was all they ever needed to do in order to becoming a winning bunch. They have not made the playoffs since Jimmy Butler was still here, so this is certainly a great year for so many reasons.
They may struggle to slow Jokic.
Denver Looking for Home Win
Coming off a loss to the 76ers just a night earlier, the Nuggets will hope to avoid a second loss in two days. They have their MVP wreaking havoc on everybody, and he hasn’t missed a beat. All he is doing is putting up big numbers every single game. No big deal.
Monte Morris has not played as well, while Will Barton seems to be the only other healthy, reliable source of offense. Jeff Green didn’t even shoot the ball last game, while Aaron Gordon is just an every-now-and-then type of player.
They will need Bones Hyland and Austin Rivers to add some bench scoring.
Bulls Win
A road win for the underdogs here, as Chicago comes to Denver and gets it done.
