The first of two games on Saturday in the National Football League will feature the Cincinnati Bengals on the road at the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is a rematch of the November 26th game in Cincinnati, where the Steelers beat the Bengals 16-10. This game was the last time the Steelers won a game.
The Cincinnati Bengals have not lost since that game. The Bengals have three wins in December, and have moved to 8-6 on the season. Cincinnati is coming off an overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings. If the postseason started today, the Bengals would be the 6th seed, and start on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs.
For Pittsburgh, after back to back losses to the Cardinals and Patriots, they fell on the road at Indianapolis on Saturday. The Steelers are now 7-7, and 10th in the AFC Standings. Pittsburgh has scored just 41 points in that three game losing streak.
The Cincinnati Bengals are small favorites in this game on the road. The Bengals are listed at -2.5 over the Steelers.
Disaster for Pittsburgh Offense
The Pittsburgh offense is a complete mess right now. The Steelers have dropped all the way down to 28th in the league, scoring just 15.9 points per game. Thankfully, for them, their defense is still in the Top 10 or they would be completely out of the picture.
The Steelers run game is 16th in the league, while they are 28th in passing. Mitchell Trubisky took over for the injured Kenny Pickett, and that did not go well. Trubisky has tossed just four touchdowns to five interceptions this season. It is expected that the Steelers will send Mason Rudolph behind center in this one.
Pittsburgh is playing their final home game in this one. The Steelers are at the Seattle Seahawks on New Year’s Eve, and then at Baltimore on January 7th.
Browning to Save the Day
Jake Browning took over for Joe Burrow in the 34-31 win over Jacksonville. Since he has come in under center, the former Washington Huskies signal caller has thrown 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Ja’Marr Chase has not skipped a beat. The former LSU receiver leads the team with 1,156 yards.
The run game has improved for the Bengals as well. Joe Mixon has carried the football 211 times for 815 yards and 8 touchdowns on the season. Chase Brown has come in and been a nice change of pace running back for the Bengals. He has 115 yards on the ground, and also 115 via the air.
Cincinnati is on the road at Kansas City on New Year’s Eve. Then, in Week 18 the Cincinnati Bengals will host the Cleveland Browns.
Bengals Top Steelers
Too many problems going on right now for the Pittsburgh Steelers. One has to wonder if this is the end of the road for Mike Tomlin as the head coach of the Steelers. Pittsburgh has a quarterback problem, and a running problem. Cincinnati, despite having a backup quarterback as well, is going to win this game. The win for the Bengals will be a massive one towards their playoff push. Take the Bengals -2.5.
