The San Diego Padres will host the Cleveland Guardians for their third game of a three-game set. San Diego has played great baseball in the first two games of this series, winning both of them with ease.
If the Padres can continue winning games at this type of level, that 7.5-game deficit in the National League West is going to be erased in the near future.
For now, they’re just hoping that they can continue playing good baseball, and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
The Guardians, on the other hand, are now 3.5 games behind the first-place Minnesota Twins in the American League Central and need to figure things out if they want to win the division.
The sportsbooks believe that the Padres are going to come away with the win in this one as they come in at -130 on the moneyline and +150 on the run line.
Can The Guardians Bounce Back?
When looking at the season that the Cleveland Guardians have had, it’s easy to see why people are still hopeful that they can win the division. It’s not going to be an easy task as they haven’t played good baseball this season, but the Guardians have done things that have been impressive on both sides of the ball for parts throughout the year.
A team that offers Jose Ramirez, Josh Bell, Steven Kwan, Shane Bieber, and others should eventually figure it out.
Their play in California hasn’t been pretty throughout these first two games, and they need to turn that around if they want to take the Padres down in this third game and not get swept. They should have the upper hand on the mound, as Ryan Weathers hasn’t necessarily thrown too well throughout his young career.
San Diego Goes For The Sweep
The San Diego Padres are one of the more interesting teams in Major League Baseball. Despite some of the struggles here, they’re still just one game below .500 and only 7.5 games behind the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks.
That’s from a team that couldn’t get anything going offensively throughout the first few months of the season, and now, they’ve started to figure it out. If San Diego can continue playing at this type of level, they’re going to find themselves in a very good position.
Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado, Juan Soto, Xander Bogaerts, and Gary Sanchez have all played well for San Diego throughout the past few weeks. Sanchez has been on a resurgence type of run with San Diego, as he’s hitting .232 and has knocked out four home runs in his last ten games.
Cleveland Guardians at San Diego Padres Betting Pick
Because this game is going to be played in San Diego, and the Padres have a chance to sweep the series, backing them doesn’t seem to be a bad idea. However, if you want to play plus money, the Guardians are also a good bet here.
This is one of those games where we could be looking for more value, and if that’s the case, betting the Guardians seems to be the better bet.
