It was a wild day in the world of College Football, despite no games being played on Sunday. The announcement of the College Football Playoff teams was done, and there was plenty of controversy.
First, the four teams that were named to the College Football Playoff, and their current betting odds to win it all:
Michigan Wolverines +170
Coach Harbaugh and his Wolverines have been red hot, including their Big Ten title game where they held Iowa scoreless in the game. Michigan continues to dominate from start to finish with their ability to run the football, and also their sensational defense. The Wolverines are going to be tough to score on in the postseason; but will have to face a red hot Alabama squad.
Alabama Crimson Tide +200
The Crimson Tide are the last team into the College Football playoff. Alabama won the SEC title game over Georgia, and got into the playoff. There was plenty of controversy between them and Florida State, but the committee put Jalen Milroe and his Crimson Tide into the game. Alabama will need to make sure they take care of the football in the battle against Michigan.
Texas Longhorns +250
The Longhorns came away with a blowout win over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game. There was discussion whether Steve Sarkisian and his squad would get into the playoff, and not only did they get in; but are the third seed, and will be favorites in their game against Washington. This is the final season for the Longhorns in the Big 12 before they join the SEC next season.
Washington Huskies +750
Michael Penix and his Washington Huskies did fantastic work beating the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 title game. It was the second win over the Ducks this season. The Huskies are doing a great job of moving the chains on offense, and the defense has been good enough for them to be 13-0 on the season.
The bowl game matchups:
- Alabama Crimson Tide +1.5 vs. Michigan Wolverines; 46.5
Coach Saban and his Crimson Tide get several weeks to prepare for Coach Harbaugh’s Wolverines. This is going to be an incredible matchup between two great defensive teams. Look for the team that turns the ball over the least to win this game.
- Texas Longhorns -4.5 vs. Washington Huskies; 63.5
Can the Washington Huskies defense hang with Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns offense? Texas is without their top running back, but that has yet to seem to matter. This has been a fantastic offense as of late. The team that gets the most stops early in this game will get ahead and stay ahead, ultimately winning the game.
Other Notable Bowl Games:
- Missouri Tigers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes – Cotton Bowl
- Ole Miss Rebels vs. Penn State Nittany Lions – Peach Bowl
- Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida State Seminoles – Orange Bowl
- Wisconsin Badgers +10.5 vs. LSU Tigers; 55.5 – ReliaQuest Bowl
- Iowa Hawkeyes +7.5 vs. Tennessee Volunteers; 36.5 – Citrus Bowl
- Liberty Flames +15.5 vs. Oregon Ducks; 63.5 – Fiesta Bowl
