The Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars are set to meet up in Game 1 of the best of 7 series on Tuesday. This is the second round, with the winner of this series moving to the Western Conference Finals. The opponent in the next round will be the winner of the Edmonton Oilers against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Colorado Avalanche finished third in the Central Division with their 50-25-7 record in the regular season. The Avalanche took care of the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, despite being on the road for the first two games.
For the Dallas Stars, it took seven games to eliminate the defending Stanley Cup Champion Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Stars went 52-21-9 on the season to win the Central Division. Dallas won their final two games of the regular season. In the series against Vegas, they lost their first two games at home.
The Dallas Stars are -125 in this game over Colorado.
Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche offense is red hot. The Avalanche did not score less than 5 goals in a single game during the Jets series. In the winner, the Avalanche scored six goals. In that game, Nathan MacKinnon dished out 2 assists, while Mikko Rantanen scored two goals and dished out an assist.
During the regular season, MacKinnon paced the offense. He scored 51 goals and dished out 89 assists. Rantanen was next with 104 points, followed by Cale Makar. Those three combined for the most points of any other trio in the league.
The goaltender for the Avalanche will be Alexander Georgiev. He made 62 regular season starts, and turned around 38 wins. Georgiev allowed 3.02 goals per game on the season. In the postseason, after allowing 7 in the opener, he allowed just 8 more in the final four games of the series.
Dallas Stars
Radek Faksa scored early in the third period to give the Dallas Stars a 2-1 lead. That lead would hold up, and Dallas would escape the first round. It was not an easy series win, as Dallas lost the first two games at home, and were blanked in Game 6.
The Stars did not score a ton of goals in the series. The Stars offense scored just 16 goals in the 7 games. The defense did it’s job as it allowed just 16 as well. During the regular season, Dallas scored 3.59 goals per game, which was third in the league. The defense was 8th, allowing 2.83.
On the offensive side, the top threat this season was Jason Robertson. He scored 29 goals and dished out 51 assists. In the postseason, Robertson has three goals and two assists. Jake Oettinger will be back between the pipes. He started 53 games and won 35 this season.
Colorado WIns on the Road
Dallas is coming off an emotional high. Fortunately, for them, they were at home. Dallas prides themselves on their ability to play good defense. The problem is – they will have to face a high powered Colorado offense.
We like the Avalanche to score goals here. Colorado scores enough to win this game, and take game 1 on the road. Bet the Colorado Avalanche +105 over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Enjoy the game!
