The Connecticut Huskies will take their talents to Chicago to battle the DePaul Blue Demons on Wednesday. This game features the top ranked team in College Basketball, against one of the worst teams in College Basketball. Connecticut is 22-2 on the season, and leading the Big East Conference. The Huskies have won 12 straight games. On Saturday, Connecticut smoked Georgetown on the road.
For DePaul, they have dropped 11 straight games. The Blue Demons have just three wins on the season. DePaul was smacked on the road at St. John’s on February 6th by 28 points. DePaul has not won a game since December 30th against Chicago State.
The Huskies are massive favorites at -23.5 over DePaul.
Miserable Season for Blue Demons
The Blue Demons have those three wins, with the first coming November 14th over South Dakota, and the second to start Big East play over Louisville. The win at New Year over Chicago State, is a team that sits at 11-17 on the season. The Blue Demons have not finished within single digits since January 6th.
DePaul is scoring just 64 points per game. That is one of the worst offenses in all of College Basketball. The Blue Demons are making just 42% of their shots, and just 6.1 three point baskets made per game. The top scorer for DePaul has been Chico Carter, but he is out with a ribs injury.
The Blue Demons will go on the road for their next two games following this one. They are at Providence on the 17th and Marquette on the 21st. The next home game will take place on February 24th against Georgetown.
Top Team in the Country
On the other side, it’s been about the exact opposite for the Connecticut Huskies. With several notable wins in the non conference slate, their lone loss was at Kansas. The Huskies then lost just before Christmas on the road at Seton Hall. Since December 20th, they have not lost a game.
Connecticut have won five out of their last eight games by double digits. The Huskies come into the game scoring 81.3 points per game. That ranks within the Top 30 in College Basketball. Connecticut is making just shy of 50% of their shots. The Huskies top scores are Cam Spencer and Tristen Newton, both just over 15 per game.
The Huskies are at home on Saturday against Marquette. The final two games of February for UConn will be at Creighton, and then at home to take on the Villanova Wildcats.
Blowout in Chicago
The last time these two teams played was January 2nd at Connecticut. The Huskies led 38-19 at halftime, and rolled to an 85-56 win over the Blue Demons. Mercy!
