The Cowboys head to NOLA to play the Saints on Thursday in a game that both sides certainly need a win in. Dallas has been struggling and lost to the Raiders on Thanksgiving, their divisional lead rapidly shrinking. New Orleans has dropped four in a row, but their playoff hopes are very much still alive. But, having dropped four in a row, it has to end here.
Dak Prescott and company will look to get back on track, having played relatively poorly over the past month. They lost several winnable games that they will not get back.
They need to figure out the running game again and the perfect balance between Zeke Elliott and Tony Pollard. Both guys can play a large role, but neither guy should be frozen out.
The Saints have not won a single game since losing Jameis Winston to an ACL injury. Northwestern grad and journeyman QB Trevor Siemian has not had any of the answers that the team has needed.
They are 0-4 with him at the helm, and it seems that their season has begun to slip away. Other key injuries have played a part, but the QB has to be better.
It is not yet clear if Alvin Kamara is going to play, but at least Mark Ingram will come back to the lineup. Baby steps.
Betting Odds & Lines
The spread for TNF is set at DAL -5. The over/under is sitting at 48 points. The NO line is +180, while Dallas is favored at -217.
Dallas Looking for Big Road Win
A 7-4 record is not bad at all for the Cowboys. But, considering that they have lost three games to the same AFC division, they should hang their heads just a little.
The Chiefs, Broncos, and Raiders all took care of business against them, following their Week 2 win over the Chargers. This means that they have gone 6-1 when playing games within the NFC.
And with that being said, they face a team that has been doing a lot of losing lately. They can’t win with their backups, and this puts the Cowboys into a suddenly beautiful situation. The odds are in their favor, as they should be getting Amari Cooper and maybe even CeeDee Lamb back.
Finally getting healthier, Dallas is going to be hard to beat in this one.
New Orleans Aims to Get Back to .500
There is no easy way to find a Saints win in this scenario. The only advantage they have is the noise of their still faithful home crowd. The fans have been coming in numbers since they first started playing games in the Superdome. Siemian has to step his game up.
Michael Thomas not taking the field this year takes one of the best receivers in the league over the past decade out of your offense completely. And they have not found a viable WR1 this season. Not even for a single week.
Dallas By a Lot
The game will not be too close. Dallas will win big, covering the spread and making their road fans happy.
