The Dallas Cowboys have not been exactly perfect this year, and they have struggled against top-tier teams. But Dallas still finds itself over .500, with its core players all healthy, so that has to feel like a win. Ezekiel Elliott has been getting it done on the ground, while the receivers have been playing exceptional football. It’s got to feel good for Dak Prescott to have Jason Witten, a player that serves as his security blanket, back in the lineup. They have weapons on offense and some big tacklers on D. Beware.
For the New York Jets, nothing has gone according to the script. Le’Veon Bell always seems to be out on an island by himself, while the offensive line has not been able to keep the QBs upright. They were without Sam Darnold for the last three games and lost Trevor Siemian just one quarter into the second game. Practice squad QB Luke Falk had to take over, and he was clearly overwhelmed by the situation. With Darnold now back at the helm, we’ll see what he can bring.
The Cowboys are 7.5-point favorites despite being the road team. The over/under is set at 45.
Cowboys Look To Get Back To Winning
They have had their ups and downs, but in Sunday’s game of the week, they will be hoping to come away victorious. Their three wins this year have come against the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins, two of them still winless to date. They scored just 10 points against the Saints and could not slow the Packers down a week ago. Dak has 11 TDs but has already tossed six picks as well to this point in the year. Zeke is averaging 17 carries (and 4.5 ypc), picking up 386 yards and four scores thus far.
Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch have both been tackling machines and will be a big part of any defensive success. On a side note, it will be great fun to hear Tony Romo calling this game and breaking down Dak’s game.
Can The Jets Get Something Going?
This has been a year to absolutely forget about. After the Darnold TD pass to Le’Veon on opening day, there had to be some optimism, as they had built a nice lead against Buffalo. But, that would be the last of their points that day, and touchdowns have been hard to come by. They were held to six points by the Eagles a week ago, and to three by the Browns. Le’Veon has an astounding 98 total touches in four games, but he’s gained just 372 total yards. They have only two touchdowns, and one was by Vyncint Smith (one touch, end of the last game).
If their defense can apply pressure on Dak and the secondary can capitalize on any mistakes, maybe the Jets have a chance. Maybe.
