The Dallas Mavericks are on the road at the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday in the National Basketball Association. The Dallas Mavericks are coming off a big time home win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Dallas is now 39-29 on the season, and 8th in the Western Conference standings. The Mavericks are 6-4 in their last 10.
For the Spurs, they are also coming off a win. The Spurs beat the Nets at home in overtime on Sunday. San Antonio is now 15-53 but still sits with the worst record in the Western Conference. The Spurs, with the win, snapped a three-game losing streak.
The Dallas Mavericks are -8 on the road. The total for this game is 234.5.
Luka for MVP?
Luka Doncic is a front runner for Most Valuable Player in the NBA. He has been absolutely outstanding for the Mavericks. In the win over the Nuggets, he poured in a game high 37 points, and ripping down 10 rebounds. Luka also went 8 straight games with 10+ assists in a single game.
The Mavericks are getting 34.4 points per game from him. He is getting help from Kyrie Irving and Tim Hardaway Jr, with 25.4 and 17.7 per game, respectively. The Mavericks as a team are scoring 118.8 points per game. That ranks sixth in the league.
Dallas will go home and host the Jazz on Thursday and then head to Salt Lake City on March 25th to start a four-game road trip, with visits to the Kings (twice) and Rockets.
Wemby for Rookie of the Year
The San Antonio Spurs are not going to have a MVP, but they are going to have the Rookie of the Year. The Spurs have been frustrating this season, but Victor Wembanyama has not. The rookie has played in 60 games, and is scoring just shy of 21 points per game. He is also averaging more than 10 rebounds per game.
In the win over the Nets, he scored 33 points, ripped down 15 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. He has one triple double on the season. That came back on January 10th in Detroit. Along with the rookie, Devin Vassell looks to be a solid scorer. He is scoring 19.3 points per game. Keldon Johnson is third for the Spurs, with 16 per game.
The Spurs remain at home on Friday to host the Grizzlies, before back to back home games against the Suns. San Antonio goers back on the road on March 27th, as they are at the Utah Jazz.
Too Much Dallas
The Dallas Mavericks seem to be a different team than a season ago. A year ago, as the end of the season came, the Mavericks folded and missed the postseason. The team this season seems to be heading the opposite direction.
Dallas is playing good basketball, and are excited for the postseason to get going. The Mavericks are going to win this game by double digits over the Spurs. Take Dallas -8.5 over San Antonio. Enjoy the game!
