In the National Hockey League, the Dallas Stars are on the road at the Vegas Golden Knights. After Vegas won the first two games of the series on the road, the Stars came back with an overtime win in Vegas to make it a 2-1 series. Game 4 will set the tone for the rest of the series.
The Dallas Stars are the top seed in the Western Conference. Dallas won the Central Division with their 52-21-9 record on the season. The Stars went 8-2 down the stretch of the regular season. Dallas used an overtime goal in Game 3 to grab their first win.
Vegas is the defending Stanley Cup Champions. The Golden Knights had a poor regular season, which saw them grab the final postseason spot in the Western Conference. Vegas went 45-29-8 on the season. The Golden Knights lost their regular season finale at home to Anaheim.
The Dallas Stars are favorites on the road in this one. Dallas is listed at -115 at Vegas. The total is 5.5 goals.
Stonewall Oettinger
Jake Oettinger turned away 32 saves, and it was just enough to win their first game of the series. Oettinger during the regular season won 35 games. He made 54 starts. The last time he lost two in a row was back in early March when he allowed a total 8 goals in back to back games against the Panthers and Devils.
Dallas saw Wyatt Johnson become the hero in the game. Johnson scored the first goal of hte game in the first period, and then the overtime goal. Mikko Heiskanen was the other goal scorer in the game for Dallas.
In Game Two, Jason Robertson was the lone Dallas player to score a goal. In Game one, Dallas got goals from Jamie Benn, Robertson, and Mason Marchment. During the regular season, Robertson was the top scorer. He played in all 82 games, and scored 29 goals to tie the games and dished out 51 assists.
Defending Stanley Cup Champions
The Vegas Golden Knights did not do anything great during the regular season. But, here we are, a second week into the postseason, and Vegas is playing some of their best hockey of the season. The Golden Knights scored 3.21 goals per game, and allowed teams to score 2.96 on the season.
In the Game three loss, Vegas got back to back goals to tie the game, Brayden McNabb scored first, which was just second of the series, and then Jack Eichel scored shorthanded a little later. That was all the Golden Knights could get in the game.
We expect Logan Thompson to once again be between the pipes in this game. In the game three loss, Thompson recorded 43 saves. Over his last three games, Thompson has allowed 7 goals, but has seen 96 shots attempted. He was 25-14-5 on the season with 2.70 goals allowed.
Dallas Evens the Series with Road Win
This should be another great game. This may be the best series in the first round of the postseason. Both teams could make a deep run in the postseason. Look for Dallas to continue to play desperate hockey here. The top seed cannot lose in the first round.
The Stars get ahead, and stay ahead this time. We are taking the Dallas Stars -115 over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday!
