We have an interesting NHL game on Wednesday night as the Dallas Stars will be taking on the St. Louis Blues. This is going to be one of three NHL games on Wednesday, so getting some action on it doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
Dallas is going to be coming into this one as a -165 favorite on the moneyline and +155 on the puck line. They’ve already clinched a playoff spot and could still finish ahead of the Colorado Avalanche if they were to win these next two games and Colorado losses their games. This does cause for an interesting contest, so expect Dallas to come out and do what they do best.
Let’s break it down with the latest Dallas Stars vs. St Louis Blues betting preview.
Dallas Can Jump Colorado
The Dallas Stars have had one of the more interesting seasons in the NHL this year. They’ve managed to play incredible hockey for most of the season, currently sitting with 104 points. Those 104 points would leave them with the fourth most in the Western Conference at the moment. However, this Dallas team has had games throughout the year where they simply can’t get the job done and it’s a bit of a call for concern.
When they’re at their best, they can beat anybody in hockey, but when they’re at their worst, they can lose to anybody as well. That’s one thing to watch out for because they do have nights where they simply can’t get anything going.
Furthermore, they also have nights where they can have a 2-0 lead late in the game and lose.
Will the Blues Play Anyone?
There isn’t necessarily a ton to play for if you’re the St Louis Blues, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t want to win this game. They have finished the regular season playing some decent hockey in their last 10 games, winning six of those. However, they’re not going to be able to make the playoffs, even if things did go perfectly their way. With just 81 points, St. Louis is now getting ready for the offseason.
It’s uncertain if they’re going to play all of their guys, but with this being their final home game of the season, it might not be a crazy idea to let the fans watch them once last time this season. This could be a good time to take Dallas just because of that, as it’s not 100% certain about who and who isn’t going to be playing for the Blues.
If Dallas feels that they’re in a favorable playoff position and they like the probable matchup of their first-round game, they could also decide to sit some of their top players. However, they didn’t do that on Monday night against the Detroit Red Wings and it wouldn’t make much sense if they did that in the final two games of the season. Either way, they can at least get ready for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Betting Preview Prediction
Due to Dallas needing this game more than the St. Louis Blues, taking them to win this game on the moneyline or the puck line seems to be a good idea. They can also win this game in regulation, which also might not be a bad idea at -105 odds.
