We have ourselves a really good College Basketball game on Friday out of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Dayton Flyers are on the road at the Loyola Ramblers. This game features two of the top teams in the conference. Both teams are just a game behind the Richmond Spiders for the conference lead.
Dayton comes into the game with a 22-5 record on the season. The Flyers are 12-3 in conference play. They are winners of 7 out of their last 10, and beat Davidson on TUesday. The Flyes have not played the Ramblers this season, and the last time they did, Dayton blew out Loyola last February.
For Loyola, they are looking to bounce back following a loss on the road at St. Bonaventure. The Ramblers loss sent them to 20-8 on the season and 12-3 in league play. Loyola is 8-2 in their last 10 games. A home win here would really add to their tournament resume. So far, the Ramblers are 13-2 at home.
The Dayton Flyers are -1.5 on the road here. 137.5 is the total.
Ramblers Seeking Bounce Back
Loyola did not play well during their road game on Tuesday. They will certainly have to improve their play for this one. The Ramblers are scoring 73.8 points per game on the season. The offense is balanced, but makes nearly 8.5 three point baskets per game. Loyola has to cut down on the turnovers; at nearly 13 per game.
The top scorer for the Ramblers this season has been Phillip Alston with 12.8 points per game. The only other Loyola offensive threat that is scoring double digits per game is Des Watson. He is at 12.7 per game.
Loyola will finish the regular season with a road game at Davidson on Wednesday, and then come back home to host LaSalle on March 9th.
Flyers Looking to Soar
The Dayton Flyers have a chance to finish strong, and maybe win 25 games in the regular season. Dayton has lost their last two road games though; by 2 at VCU and by 4 at George Mason. The other three losses this season were at Richmond, and non conference games to Northwestern and Houston.
Dayton is scoring 74 points per game. The Flyers have the 7th best three point shooting team in the country; making nearly 39.% of them. Dayton averages more than nine three point shots made per game. The top scorer for the Flyers this season has been DaRon Holmes, with 20 points per game.
Next for the Flyers is a road game at the struggling Billikens of Saint Louis. The regular season finale is at home against VCU.
Ramblers Top Flyers
What a game this should be. The Flyers are the team that most of America knows in the conference, but Loyola has had tournament success out of the Missouri Valley. Richmond likes this game, because one of the teams chasing them is going to lose. In the end, we like the home team to win this game.
The Ramblers and their home crowd carry to a win on Friday night in front of the College Basketball world. Great game to start March. We are taking the Loyola Ramblers +1.5 over the Dayton Flyers.
