It will be a huge night in Orlando with Game 7 between the Denver Nuggets and LA Clippers. Denver rallied from a 3-1 hole against the Jazz and came out on top at the end. And they are a win away from doing it to the LA Clippers, in the very same postseason.
This is the fourth playoff series in a row for Denver under Mike Malone that has gone the distance. They scrap and claw and never give up. This team doesn’t always bring their best but manage to make up for it in the games that follow. It’s impressive no matter how you look at it, though.
LA, on the other hand, is trying to end the “curse.” The franchise has never reached the conference finals before. And they blew a 3-1 lead to the Rockets back in 2015 in this very round. Is history about to repeat itself, or can they right the ship and finally move on?
ODDS:
The Clippers find themselves as 7.5-point favorites, the over/under set at 207.5.
Denver Looks for Rocky Mountain History
The Nuggets have two star players needed to win, and they always keep things interested. Nikola Jokic has been absolutely dominant, while Jamal Murray has continued his steady play.
Gary Harris hit several big shots down the stretch of Game 6, while Torrey Craig did the same. The team erased a 19-point deficit like it was nothing, making their way into yet another Game 7 situation. They fell short against Portland in this same circumstance last year, as CJ McCollum was just too much to handle down the stretch.
If they want to win, Jerami Grant and Paul Millsap need to play well and score when they can. And the bench guys will have to play their roles. The minutes might be reduced, but it’s all doing whatever it takes.
Clippers Try to End Curse
1969 is when Clipper basketball first came to be. Not once have they ever gone and made it to round three of the postseason. A win on Tuesday can finally send them to the conference finals. And they have been title favorites in most people’s eyes, so it would be devastating if they fell short tonight.
When you have 2X champ Kawhi Leonard and All-NBA Paul George leading your team, there should be no excuse not to make it to at least the conference finals. But one more loss could see them packing their bags and leaving Orlando a lot earlier than expected.
Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell will need to play well, and Patrick Beverley will need to try to stay out of foul trouble. You know what your stars give you.
SURPRISE! An Upset
The Nuggets are 7.5-point underdogs, and they should be your bet. One win from history and they get it done. They are facing the Lakers next.
