Detroit has had their ups and downs, but if the playoffs started today, they would be the #6 seed in the East. However, their spot is anything but secure with the Heat, Hornets, and Magic all starting to catch fire at the best possible time.
Denver, on the other hand, had a chance to grab the #1 seed but got destroyed by the Pacers. They are looking to grab another win and claim their 50th win for the first time in quite a few seasons.

Pistons:
They have had their ups and downs, but since acquiring Wayne Ellington at the trade deadline, things have turned around. They have played well with him in the lineup, while he’s been burying the three balls. They are just #23 in points scored, however, they are #8 in points allowed, as the defense has been a major key under Dwane Casey. If this team had not traded for Blake Griffin at last year’s deadline, it would be hard to say where they might sit now.
Blake is far and away the leader of the group with his 25-7.5-5.5 statline, burying nearly three long balls per game. Andre Drummond is averaging 17 and 15 with 1.6 steals, as well as 1.6 blocks per game. Luke Kennard and Langston Galloway have been thriving off the bench, while Thon Maker has started to play well, finally.
Nuggets:
The team’s rotation is so deep that they cannot even afford to play guys who were dropping 15-20 like it was nothing in the earlier part of the season. And Isaiah Thomas, who worked his tail off all offseason and all year, is not even in there getting playing time because Monte Morris has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the league. Nikola Jokic has improved his game with every passing season, and this year has taken another step toward becoming a surefire top player in this NBA. It seemed just two years ago where he was great but overrated, but he would be in the debate for who you may want to build a team around now.
He leads the way with 20.2-10.8-7.6. And, there are nights he is just out there trying to facilitate. Denver is the #18 scoring team in the league, but they do have seven guys averaging in double-figures. They are #6 in points allowed, with large thanks to Torrey Craig and his ability to make plays on the defensive end off the bench. Jamal Murray and Gary Harris, plus Plumlee off the bench are all terrific defenders.
