The Golden State Warriors make their lone trip to Madison Square Garden this season to take on the New York Knicks. The Warriors are 8-2 over their last 10 games, and coming off a win on the road at the Wizards on Tuesday.
Golden State is now 39-27 on the season, which is good enough for 9th in the West. The Warriors are 4 games ahead of the Jazz, who are on the outside looking in for a postseason spot.
The Knicks lost at home to the Pelicans on Tuesday, and fell to 35-24 on the season. New York is three games behind the Bucks for third, and 1.5 ahead of both Miami and Philadelphia in the standings. The Knicks are 20-10 at home this season.
New York is +2.5 at home in this game. The total is 224.5.
Warriors Looking to Win Again
In the Warriors recent win in Washington, they started slow, trailing after one, but blowing the Wizards away in the middle two quarters. In the win, Klay Thompson scored 25 points, while Steph Curry was held without a basket the entire first half of the game.
Thompson is up to 17.2 points per game for Golden State. Curry still leads the team, and is just shy of 28 per game. The big story for the Warriors has been the emergence of Jonathan Kuminga. The young star has scored 15.4 points per game to take over for Draymond Green in many of his absences this season.
Golden State will continue on their road trips with stops in Toronto and Boston before they finally head home. The Warriors next home game is March 6th against Milwaukee.
Knicks Need Brunson
Make no mistake, the New York Knicks need their leader and point guard. After winning on Monday, Jalen Brunson was ford to miss Tuesday’s game with a neck injury. The Knicks trailed all night and lost by 23 at home to the Pelicans. The loss is multiplied because of Julius Randle also being out.
Brunson gets the party started for the New York offense. He is scoring more than 27 points per game, and dishing out just shy of 7 assists. Him and Randle combined for 51.7 points per game when playing. OG Anunoby has come over and is scoring 15.1 points per game for the Knicks as well.
The Knicks will make a quick trip to Cleveland to battle the Cavaliers, before coming back home. During the home stand, New York will host the Hawks, Magic, and 76ers twice before heading back on the road.
Warriors Go on the Road and Win
It really comes down to the status of Jalen Brunson for the Knicks in this one. Without him, they are not going to win this game, or many games going forward. Especially with Julius Randle out. In fact, even if Brunson does come back, we like the Warriors to elevate their game in front of the big stage in Manhattan and win this game.
Golden State is playing better basketball, and this is one they win. We are going to take the Golden State Warriors on the road here. The final bet is the Warriors -2.5 over the Knicks. Good luck and enjoy the games!
