The Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers are set to meet up for the second time in 10 days on Wednesday. Back on January 30th, the Warriors topped the 76ers at home. Now, the Warriors come into the game with a 22-25 record, which is currently outside the Top 10 in the Western Conference. Golden State has gone 9-12 on the road this season, but coming off a win on the road at the Nets on Monday.
For Philadelphia, they have struggled since the loss of Joel Embiid. The 76ers are now fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 30-19 record. The 76ers have dropped back to back games and six out of their last 10 games. Philadelphia is 17-8 at home.
The Golden State Warriors are -3 over Philadelphia in this one. The total is listed at 234.5.
Embiid Out for February
Joel Embiid will not win the Most Valuable Player award in 2023-2024. Due to new NBA Rules where players must play in at least 65 games, he will not qualify. The big man is slated to miss the entire month of February. Before his injury, Embiid played in 34 games, and was scoring more than 35 points per game.
Tyrese Maxey will look to take over even more of the offensive load. Maxey had missed just four games this season, and is scoring 25.9 points per game. The first round pick out of Kentucky will team up with Tobias Harris and Kelly Oubre Jr to right the ship while Embiid is out.
Philadelphia will wrap up the home stand on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks. After that, the 76ers will go on the road for back to back games. The 76ers are at the Wizards on Saturday and will visit Cleveland on Monday.
Struggling Warriors
Things have not gone as planned for Steve Kerr and his Golden State Warriors. The Golden State Warriors are in danger of missing the postseason, and essentially ending the era of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Green has been an issue for the Warriors, playing in just 23 of the 47 games this season due to injury and suspension.
Steph Curry continues to pour in points for Golden State. The guard is scoring 28.1 points per game, and dishing out 5 assists per game. Klay Thompson is second on the squad with 17.1 points per game. Youngster Jonathan Kuminga has had a nice breakout season, starting in 20 games and scoring 15.4 points per game.
Golden State is on the road at Indiana on Thursday to complete the back to back road trip. After that, the Warriors will host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, before hitting up a game on the road at Utah on Monday.
76ers Even Up Season Series
Look for Philadelphia to bounce back. Now that the 76ers know Embiid will be out for all of February, they can settle in with their current roster. Tyrese Maxey is still a problem, and the Warriors struggle on the road. Look for the 76ers to win this game. When we go to place a bet on this game, we are going to take the Philadelphia 76ers +3 over the Golden State Warriors for Wednesday.
