A big rivalry game in the National Football League will take place Sunday Night. The Green Bay Packers are on the road at the Minnesota Vikings. Both teams come into the game with a 7-8 record. The loser of this game will be eliminated from postseason play.
Green Bay is coming off a 3 point win on the road at the Carolina Panthers. That win snapped a two game losing streak for Green Bay. On the other side, Minnesota has lost back to back games. The Vikings fell at home to Detroit on Christmas Eve.
The Vikings come into this game as favorites. Minnesota is listed at -2 over Green Bay.
Packers Led by Love
The Green Bay Packers have been pleased with the performances they have seen from their first year starting quarterback Jordan Love. Love has completed nearly 63% of his passes for 3,587 yards and 27 touchdowns. Love has 11 interceptions, and has been sacked 29 times this season.
Romeo Doubs has taken over as the top receiving option for the Packers. Doubs has 646 yards, and leads the team with 8 touchdowns. Jayden Reed is next with five, as Christian Watson has been in and out, missing 6 games this season.
The run game for the Packers needs to improve as well. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are combining for just over 1,000 yards on the season, and have four of the nine Packers running touchdowns. Love has three and Jayden Reed has two. The Packers will finish the regular season in Week 18 against the Bears.
Banged up Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings started the season 0-3, so to be in a spot for a playoff berth is a little bit of a miracle. The Vikings have seen Kirk Cousins miss 7 games, while Justin Jefferson has also missed 7. TJ Hockenson has yet to miss a game, but will not play in this game with a torn ACL. Rookie Jordan Addison also has yet to miss, but is questionable here.
Ty Chandler has emerged as the best running back option on the team. Alexander Mattison has played in 14 of the team’s 15 games, and gotten 170 carries, and does not have a touchdown on the season. The Vikings have just seven rushing touchdowns on the year.
The Vikings will finish the regular season against the Divisional champion Detroit Lions. That will be a rematch of the Week 16 game in which Detroit won.
Sunday Night Thriller
We like this game on Sunday Night Football. It will be all bets off the table for both teams. With a little luck, they may get into a playoff spot here with a win. Then, it would come down to Week 18. The Vikings won the first matchup between these two teams. Both teams are banged up, this will be a battle of attrition.
In the end, the Packers go on the road and win this game. Just too many injuries for Minnesota, and Jordan Love is more of a starter than Nick Mullens. The Packers finish the Vikings season by winning here. Green Bay moves to 8-8 and welcomes the Bears to town in Week 18. Take the Green Bay Packers +2 over the Minnesota Vikings.
