The Houston Cougars will look for revenge on Sunday night as they will take on the Temple Owls. Temple beat them just two weeks ago when Houston was the number-one-ranked team in America. Temple ended up winning this game 56-55 and did so on Houston’s home court. They showed the ability to get stops at an elite level against them, and they’re hopeful that they can possibly do the same thing once again here. Beating Houston twice in the same year seems impossible for any team. When factoring in that a team like Temple has this chance, we already know that they’re going to try to make the most out of it.
Temple comes in at +11.5 on the spread line.
Houston Revenge Spot
There are a few different ways that we can look at what Houston is going to do in this game, but one thing that we would like to touch on is the fact that this team has come out and played excellent basketball since that disappointing loss. They came away with an 11-point win versus UCF, a nine-point win against Cincinnati, and a nine-point win against Wichita State. Those are three tough opponents, and Houston did exactly what they needed to do to continue rising the college basketball standings.
They’re going to have to continue playing at an elite level if they want a chance to win this game, as Temple showed that they can beat them when they’re at their best.
Because Houston did lose their first game, it seems a bit crazy to think that they won’t win this one. Marcus Sasser is the guy to watch out for here as he’s currently leading the Cougars with 16.2 points per game while shooting 42% from the field.
Can The Owls Do it Again?
This is an interesting game to discuss because of what Temple was able to do in their win against Houston. Although that was clearly the best win that Temple is going to have all season, bearing anything crazy happening in this game, they’re typically a respectable program and that’s precisely what we have to realize here.
They have wins over East Carolina, South Florida, and UCF. They’ve now won four games in a row and will look to make that a five-game streak on Sunday. If they can come out and continue playing defense at an elite level, this team can beat anybody in the country at any given night. They won’t wow anybody with what they do offensively, but Khalif Battle is someone to look out for here. He’s coming into this game with a 26 Point performance against UCF and a 25-point performance against USF. He scored 20-plus points in three of his last five games.
Houston Cougars vs. Temple Owls Prediction
This one is going to be exciting because Houston is certainly going to remember what Temple did to them. However, because of that, it’s the best time to jump all over the Cougars to win this game. They’re going to be coming out and doing everything that they possibly can on both sides of the basketball to make sure that nothing like last time happens. This game is going to be much different than it was the first time around, and I expect Houston to come away with an easy win here.
