A new edition of Thursday Night Football is upon us as we jump into Week 5 of the NFL regular season and an AFC duel.
Two teams that have not met their preseason expectations will be going against each other when the Indianapolis Colts go on the road to take on the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos had two significant injuries on both sides of the ball after their last game and will be looking to pick up the pieces on a short week turnaround.
Matt Ryan is going to have to step up in a big way as the news of an ankle sprain by Jonathan Taylor has come out and he will likely be missing this game as well.
With so much to unpack in this game, we have all of the coverage and trends you need to make your best bets.
As we look to the spread, oddsmakers have the Broncos favored on their own field over the Colts at -3.
Where to go with the ball without Jonathan Taylor
As far as offenses go this season, the Colts are on the list as one of the least impressive in the entire NFL.
The receiving core is lacking, and even with Michael Pittman having a good opening week, their team has yet to repeat that type of performance on offense.
Matt Ryan is looking well past his prime, and struggles to hit his spots where he can deliver the ball and put the Colts in spots to score.
Taylor had not been running well, but being stuck with second-string running backs is not a recipe for success either.
Russell hustle and bustle fighting to keep his team relevant
If the stakes were not already high for Russell Wilson with his new team, they just were raised with the loss of running back Javonte Williams for the rest of the season.
It is going to be up to the quarterback to take command of this team and this locker room the rest of the way and serve as an inspiration to his teammates.
Thankfully, their receiving core is solid, but Wilson is going to have to find more ways to be creative on offense to get them the ball.
Not to mention, defensive end Randy Gregory will also be sidelined for four to six weeks, and their head coach has been under the microscope this first quarter of the season.
Colts @ Broncos Betting Prediction
Making a bet on either of these teams on Thursday night would be ill-advised, as neither has proven their value on the field.
Normally, in these situations, taking the points at home is a good route to go, especially with the mile-high advantage that the Broncos have.
With all that said, expect Wilson to follow up from their Raiders loss with more good numbers in the passing attack, with Courtland Sutton leading the way in receiving.
Take the Broncos on their home turf at -3.
