Three weeks remain in the NFL regular season and every game’s meaning is intensified because of it.
Thursday Night Football brings a pivotal AFC matchup when the surging Jacksonville Jaguars go on the road to take on the New York Jets. Both of these teams are fighting for their lives to remain in the playoff picture.
The Jets don’t have much of a shot at winning the division anymore with how the Bills have wrapped things up at the end of the season, but they can still grab a wildcard spot.
In the AFC South, all of the teams have struggled for the most part, paving the way for the Jaguars to sneak a division win if they keep up their offensive explosions.
It is likely that Mike White will still be out for this game due to his rib injury, so we will see the matchup of Zach Wilson against Trevor Lawrence.
As such, the spread fades towards the visiting Jaguars, but the Jets are still drawing the home favorite at -1.
A dominant offensive performance from the Jaguars
When all was bleak against the Cowboys, the Jaguars roared into a tie game on the back of a multi-touchdown performance from Zay Jones.
Trevor Lawrence was sensational to keep his team fighting the entire game, and we saw a high amount of emotion from him after the game-tying score.
Matching up against the Jets’ secondary will be a little bit harder than the Cowboys was, but the defense of the Jaguars also put on a show in the second-half and scored the winning touchdown.
All of this to say, the AFC South looks to be up for the taking and the Jaguars are coming to get it with a loud roar.
Doing everything they need to do to stay alive
Without Mike White in the lineup, the Jets offense is completely different. Zach Wilson does not move the ball nearly as well.
That being said, the offense looked okay against the Lions with Zach Wilson behind center. He managed a couple of touchdowns and only one interception in the game.
What seems to be more of the problem is the Jets missing some key defensive players like Quinnen Williams on the defensive front.
All eyes need to pay close attention to the injury report before this game as it could really turn the tides of this matchup.
Jaguars @ Jets Betting Prediction
As far as two teams in the AFC, the Jaguars and the Jets are right in the middle of the pack. With similar records on both sides and the stakes so high, this is one of the most exciting games of the Christmas weekend.
There’s so much to love about the Jaguars and their gritty win over a good Dallas team is a testament to how far they have come in the season.
On the road against the Jets, they have a great chance on short rest. Take the Jaguars as the slight underdog in this game at +1 and be ready for a strong offensive showcase.
