The Chiefs will head to Baltimore to face the Ravens for SNF in week 2. The game is one that is a must-win for the Ravens, who will be hoping to avoid an 0-2 opening to 2021. And also, Lamar Jackson is 0-3 in his head-to-head battles with Patrick Mahomes, something he probably takes personally.
KC was able to rally late and take care of business against the Browns last Sunday. They were behind for much of the contest but wound up with a 33-29 win, reminding folks what they are capable of. Some holes showed up in their game that will need quick fixing, but all in all, 1-0 is all you can ask for. Especially playing a team like Cleveland.
The Ravens, meanwhile, lost an embarrassing game to the Raiders on Monday night. Many mistakes were made by both clubs, but Lamar not protecting the ball cost his team. He lost two fumbles, which is inexcusable, especially for a mobile QB. Their banged-up defense was exposed, and the offense folded in overtime.
This is a game that means a lot to Lamar and his team. They haven’t beaten KC in the Mahomes era, so this has got to be the year they do it. For everyone’s sake.
Betting Odds & Lines
Sunday night’s spread favors the visiting team and is set at KC -3.5. The KC moneyline is -200, and the BAL moneyline is +170. The game’s over/under is 54 points.
KC Seeks 2-0 Start
A Chiefs win is what most of the bettors think they will get on Sunday. But a Ravens win is expected by all of those in Maryland. But if KC wants a victory, something will need to change. They will need some semblance of a run game because they sure didn’t prove they could do it last week.
In all, they accumulated just 73 yards on the ground. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce caught every ball that came their way, but that won’t be enough. Even if they are banged up, Baltimore is a team that always plays hungry.
Patrick Mahomes can sling the ball all he wants. If KC loses the running battle, they could well lose the game, too.
Baltimore Seeking 1-1 Record
A win for the Ravens would get them to .500 and keep them from falling two games back in the AFC North. Pittsburgh and Cincy both started on high notes, and Cleveland nearly beat this KC team that Baltimore is set to face. There is no time to waste in a loaded conference.
Games like these are what the Ravens need to get up for. If they can’t play their best football against the elite clubs, then none of it is worth it. Lamar Jackson is 1-3 as a playoff starter, with a win over the titans under his belt. That’s all.
All of the new RB’s will need to let the Chiefs know who’s in charge on the ground.
Ravens Cover
The game will be very close, but it will go Baltimore’s way at the end.
