The Chiefs head to Baltimore to play the Ravens on Monday in a battle of two of the top teams in the league. A season ago, Kansas City defeated Baltimore to send the Ravens to a 2-2 record.
They didn’t lose another game until the playoffs began. And now, here we are again, these teams set for another exciting battle.
Fresh off a tight win over the Chargers, Patrick Mahomes and company will be looking to make it 3-0. Their division hasn’t put up too much of a fight early, with the Raiders being the only other team with more than one win through the first few weeks. They don’t have any teams to worry about, but they’ll hope to keep the win streak going.
Baltimore, on the other hand, needed this hot start to the season. After falling in their first playoff game a year ago, they had to regroup.
That is exactly what they have done, disposing of the Browns and Texans in the first two weeks. The #1 seed is extra vital this year with only one bye-week per conference in the playoffs. This game is huge.
ODDS:
The spread for Monday favors the Ravens by 3.5 points, with the over/under set at 54.
KC Looks At 3-0
The Chiefs took care of Houston in Week 1 handily, before winning narrowly a week ago. The 2-0 start to the year is a great look, coming fresh off a Super Bowl title. They gave Mahomes the first 12-year deal since Donovan McNabb, and the future is going to be as bright as the present.
Rookie running-back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has gotten off to a hot start, as all of the receivers have followed suit. This is a lethal offense that is once again among the most dangerous in the league. Beating the Chargers when Mahomes had an off-day of sorts is a huge added victory for the team.
Andy Reid continues to do an exceptional job, even through the foggy view of his special shield-mask. Super Bowl or bust again for KC.
Ravens Look to Spoil the Party
This is a fantastic Ravens team that will hope to get to their first Super Bowl in eight years this season. Joe Flacco took them to the promised land by beating the two best QB’s of the last 25 years last time. Lamar Jackson is putting the team in position in the early season to be a contender again.
The Chiefs bested them last season, but it’s an e new year. This is a talented Ravens team that drafted JK Dobbins to improve an already solid RB group. He, Mark Ingram, and Gus “Bus” Edwards all do a great job of pounding the rock and catching passes. Against KC, they’ll be needed.
Baltimore’s defense is also forcing timely turnovers through two weeks, something they’ll hope to do against this high-powered Chiefs offense.
Ravens Win by a Hair
They will cover the spread, but it will take a last-second stop to procure the win. The Chiefs will take their first loss since the 2019 regular season.
