In what promises to be an exciting matchup, the Kansas City Chiefs are in Las Vegas Vegas to play the Raiders. Should KC fall short in this game, their lead in the AFC West would drop to just one game. The Chiefs’ only loss in 2020 came against this Las Vegas team.
Patrick Mahomes has continued to dominate in his third year as a starter, showing very few flaws. It’s no surprise that after just two years at the helm, he received a 12-year deal worth close to $500 million. The gun-slinging Mahomes earned every penny of it after guiding the team to a Super Bowl title last season.
Meanwhile, the Raiders look better than they ever have in three years under Jon Gruden. Many questioned this fit when he was hired, given that he hadn’t been a head coach in a decade. Gruden has squashed all that doubt and is on his way to guiding this team back to the playoffs. 2020 might be the year where we see Derek Carr make his first start in the postseason.
The spread for Sunday’s showdown favors Kansas City by eight points. The over/under is set at 57.
KC Looking to Exact Revenge
When the only team to beat you through nine games is a divisional opponent, you may smile maniacally to yourself. The Chiefs have the chance to take down the Raiders and all but guarantee they clinch the division as well. A three-game lead with six to play would be a lock, given how dominant they are capable of playing.
Le’Veon Bell hasn’t fit in well yet, but it isn’t costing the team any wins. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is still the No. 1 back in Kansas City and should be able to hold onto that role for a while. Bell is still getting acclimated and is yet to have a big play in the offense.
The run defense will be the ultimate key in ensuring victory for the Chiefs. Vegas’ Josh Jacobs has been dominant in recent weeks, and Kansas City will need to make sure he can’t get going.
Raiders Aiming to Pull Season Sweep
Nobody expected Las Vegas to beat the Chiefs the first time, so it’s only right that the bettors are once again picking them to lose. That doubt should serve as motivation to the Raiders to come out on top against their division foes. They have been playing great football of late.
Carr’s fantasy owners are probably unhappy with how the offense has been running, but those with Jacobs on their fantasy team are ecstatic. Vegas’ run game has been propelling them to victories. The emergence of Devontae Booker as a viable second running back behind Jacobs has been great to see. He’s given them another dimension with two pass-catching backs.
Look for the Raiders’ defense to continue to make big plays, doing all it can to try and help the team to a huge victory. At 6-3 in a crowded AFC, this is a critical game.
Raiders Keep It Close
If you make one bet this weekend, let it be the Raiders spread here. Kansas City’s defense will have a hard time slowing down Jacobs and Booker out of the backfield, but their offense will put up enough points to come away with the win.
