If the Clippers and Warriors were playing last week, this game would not have much intrigue. But with the Warriors playing great ball and the Clippers finding their groove after the 50-point loss to Dallas, this is a perfect time for these teams to battle on national TV.
The big surprise in LA has been the continued strong play of Nicolas Batum, a guy who made very little noise in Charlotte over the past several years. He was a key contributor on some very talented Blazers teams, but what he’s doing this year is totally unexpected.
He’s a lot more versatile for them than Marcus Morris was during his short time here last year. He could keep the starting spot.
Meanwhile, Golden State is riding the high of a 31-point win over the Kings from a few nights ago. And the game before that, we saw Steph Curry score 62.
Going against a star-studded team like this will be a bit of a challenge, but they should be up for it, ready to play hard. If Curry is doubled, they have to hope the other guys can score. And look for Draymond Green to facilitate more.

The spread for this one favors the Clippers by 3.5 points. The over/under is set at 234.
Clippers Seek Sixth Win in Eight Tries
The year has been kind to LA so far, despite the 50-point loss to the Mavericks last weekend. Sometimes, you just can’t come away with the win, and that is that.
Kawhi Leonard missed that game, but he’s back and playing great. Patrick Beverley nearly had a triple-double in the team’s defeat to the Spurs.
San Antonio gave them their best shot and came away victorious. That’s just how it is in the NBA sometimes. The best team ever, the 73-9 Warriors team, wasn’t perfect.
They didn’t even win the title. LA hopes to run the table in a loaded West and win it all, giving Leonard a ring on his third team.
Ty Lue is the man for the job. He took a Cavs team that underachieved under David Blatt and led them to a title. The expectation here is the same now that he usurped Doc.
Warriors Look for Fifth Win in Six Games
After getting blown out twice to open the year, we have seen Golden State respond by winning four out of the last five games they’ve played. They earned an impressive win over Portland over the weekend, in which Curry scored 62.
They are obviously missing Klay Thompson but have been much better since the return of Green. No other NBA player can impact the game without scoring as he can by freeing up his guys with screens, moving the ball, and protecting the rim as an undersized power forward.
This is a solid roster, though it is a little mish-mashed. We’ll see how Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins look, as that will ultimately determine the outcome.
Clippers Win a Close One
This will be an LA win, with the Warriors falling back to .500. It will not be two losses in as many nights for the Clippers.
