Los Angeles Chargers at New Orleans Saints Betting Preview

The Chargers will be in New Orleans to go up against the Saints in Week 5’s Monday Night Football game. This will be the first primetime start made by rookie Justin Herbert. And the early indications from him would lead the fans to believe that he is already ready for the stage.

As seems to be the case every year, the Chargers have been banged up and losing games in the craziest ways possible. The ball has just not been bouncing their way through the first four weeks. They have lost three games in a row but will be hoping that this can be the week they have some good luck.

On the other hand, the Saints were able to stop the Lions from a win, ending their two-game skid in the process. They fell behind 14-0 right off the bat, making the task a bit tough. But they would go on to score 35 points, reminding us what they are capable of.

New Orleans will remain without their star wide receivers Michael Thomas this week, though it’s now said to be for “disciplinary reasons.”

ODDS:

The spread for Monday favors New Orleans by seven points. The over/under is set at 50.

Short-Handed Chargers Trying to Stop Skid

As they have taken three losses in a row, the season has been slowly slipping away. And now, the Chargers will be without Austin Ekeler, for what may be the first of many games. They are very lucky to have found a guy like Joshua Kelley in the draft, or the situation might be dire.

They have one of the best pass-catchers in Keenan Allen and a strong tight end in Hunter Henry. Herbert has been learning on the fly and is showing some improvement from week-to-week. Their offensive line has been less than healthy, and they’re hoping to have some of their top pass protectors back out there.

They’ll need to score over 30 points if they want to be the winners in this primetime contest.

Saints Looking to Move Back Over .500

They haven’t been better than .500 since a Week 1 win against Tom Brady’s Bucs. A win in this one would give them a 3-2 record, tying them with the Panthers and Bucs atop the division. It’s going to be a fun race to follow.

Drew Brees has had his ups and downs but came on strong last week. Alvin Kamara has suddenly become one of the best offensive players in all of football. He was always a big playmaker, but he’s taken it to a new level in Michael Thomas’ absence. He’s doing it as a pass-catcher as much as a rusher.

Their defense still leaves a bit to be desired, but they have several high-energy players. It will come down to Drew Brees if they want to pick up another victory.

Bolt Up, Baby

It will be a close game, decided on the final few possessions. Don’t fall asleep early if you’re watching on the East Coast.
