In the National Football League on Friday night, the Los Angeles Chargers are at the San Francisco 49ers for the preseason finale for both teams.
The Los Angeles Chargers are 1-1 thus far in preseason play, with a win over the Rams and a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
San Francisco is also 1-1, with a loss in Vegas, and a win at home against the Broncos. The San Francisco 49ers are big favorites in this game. The 49ers are listed at -7.5, totaling 37.5 for this game.
Bosa Still Remains Out
The biggest question mark for the San Francisco 49ers has been the holdout of defensive star Nick Bosa. Bosa remains in a contract dispute and has yet to report to training camp. The 49ers’ defense was one of the best in all of the NFL a season ago. So far in training camp, the defense has not been elite, as they allow 27 points per game.
On the offensive side, though, the 49ers appear to be ready to go. They are averaging nearly 270 yards per game via the air. Trey Lance has been solid, with rookie Ronnie Bell catching ten passes for 172 yards so far.
When the regular season games get here, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle will form one of the best offensive lineups in all of the National Football League.
San Francisco is preparing in this game for their Week 1 affair, which will not be an easy task. The 49ers are on the road at Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.
Chargers Ready for 2023 Full of Tests
Brandon Staley knows this could be a do-or-die type season for him and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers appear to be ready for a test, as they compete in a great division and have a fairly tough schedule. The Chargers start their season at home against the Dolphins before playing back-to-back road games in Weeks 2 and 3.
Justin Herbert is still the signal caller for the Chargers. He was fantastic a season ago, with nearly 4,800 passing yards. With his season in 2022, many are looking for him to compete for the NFL MVP this season.
Herbert will hopefully have a healthy Keenan Allen for 18 games this season to go with Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams. Ekeler picked up 915 rushing yards and caught 722 passing yards a season ago.
Los Angeles has used Easton Stick under center so far, through most of the preseason. Stick has been fine but has yet to throw a touchdown pass. He will likely get most of this game for the Chargers. The Chargers have high hopes for their new receiver, Quentin Johnson.
Los Angeles took him as the 22nd overall pick out of TCU. Johnson caught 60 passes for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns last season for the Horned Frogs.
49ers Win; Chargers Cover on Friday
This is a game where the spread seems too high. Sure, the 49ers look to be playing a few more guys than the Chargers regarding competitive rosters, but look for Los Angeles to compete still.
The 49ers could even win by a touchdown, and this would be a cover for the Chargers. This is too many points for a preseason game.
The final bet for the Friday night preseason game is the Los Angeles Chargers +7.5, and also take the OVER 37.5. The final score prediction is the 49ers 24-17 over the Chargers. Enjoy the game between two potential playoff teams!
