Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns Game 2 Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns. Game 2. Live in Phoenix on Tuesday night.

It’s upon us again, and it’s going to be a heck of a battle. The first game was extremely back and forth, and this one should be no different. The teams have not been to the NBA Finals either in their existence (Clippers) or in multiple decades (Suns), so a lot is riding on game 2.

The Clippers were able to go 2-0 against the Utah Jazz without Kawhi Leonard, but the Suns are a much different beast. They missed their star, and Paul George clearly needed a little bit of help that didn’t show up. As good as Reggie Jackson has been, he is not quite suited to be a top-two option in a conference finals game in a hostile environment that you must win.

Phoenix got a 40-point triple-double from Devin Booker to help guide them to a 1-0 lead on Sunday. They put on a show, led by their young star, who continues to draw Kobe Bryant comparisons. Booker got the words “Be Legendary” tattooed on his body after his 70-point outing against the Boston Celtics in his second season in the league, and has never looked back. It’s a great reminder.

The game tonight will be huge, as the Suns look to move to within two wins of the Finals.

ODDS

The game 2 spread is currently set at PHX -5.5. The over/under is 224.5 points.

Clippers Seeking 1-1 Tie

The 2021 LA Clippers are currently known as the 0-2 boys. Just like the Denver Nuggets rallying from 3-1 down twice in the 2020 playoffs, the Clippers have done it from 0-2 twice this year. But now, they would probably like to avoid that by beating the Suns in game 2. For those that complain about the playoffs being too long, this is the second game in three days. So.

To win this one, they need to win the three-point battle. They need Paul George to be in attack mode all night. They have to neutralize DeAndre Ayton. Because if he continues to dominate as he did in game 1, then the series will be over as quickly as it starts.

And, of course, watch out for DBook.

Suns Seeking 2-0 Lead

The Suns have not lost a game in a long time. It was game 3 against the Lakers when they were last defeated, where Andre Drummond imitated LeBron James from the bench. And the Suns went from down 2-1 to a 4-2 series win. Then, they swept the Nuggets. Sunday’s win marked eight in a row.

Chris Paul being out with COVID-19 did not diminish anything that the team had done, as they took game 1 without him. It does not mean they will win the series once he returns, but it shows that they have some real options for leaders and guys to step up.

If they want a game 2 win, Booker has to stay in attack mode. Ayton needs to use his advantage against Ivica Zubac, DeMarcus Cousins, and Nicolas Batum. Just like that.

SUNS WIN!!

Down 0-2 is what LA thrived on the last two rounds. Unfortunately, it will happen again. Let’s see how they respond.
