The San Antonio Spurs will be looking for their fourth straight victory when they host the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. Los Angeles has been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season, but they are starting to fall back to the pack. The Clippers have lost three of their last four games entering Thursday.
San Antonio has gotten their record back to the .500 mark with their three straight wins. The Spurs sit at 14-14 and are in third place in the Southwest Division. The Clippers come into this game with a 17-10 record, and are trailing the Golden State Warriors by just one game in the Pacific Division. The Spurs are -2.5 against the Clippers on Thursday night.

DeRozan Carrying Spurs Offense
Shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is having a terrific season in his first few months in San Antonio. DeRozan leads the team with 24.1 points per game and has also dished out a team-high 6.2 assists. San Antonio is averaging 110.3 points per game so far this season, which is right at league average, but they have been better of late. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich might be doing his best coaching job of his entire career this season.
The Spurs have struggled on defense this season, allowing 112.4 points per game. San Antonio gave up 116 points to the Clippers in their first meeting of the season, and must improve on that end of the floor. Injuries have played a part in the Spurs struggles this season, and they are still without veteran center Pau Gasol. All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge has been a solid rim protector for the Spurs this season, averaging 1.2 blocks per game.
Clippers Scoring Plenty of Points
The Los Angeles Clippers lack a true superstar, but they have been scoring a ton of points so far this season. The Clippers are averaging 115.3 points per game, which is the fifth best scoring average in the league. Los Angeles still needs to improve on the defensive end of the floor, as they come into this game allowing 113.2 points per game. Look for the Clippers to try to turn this into an uptempo game, which could give them an advantage on the road.
Tobias Harris has been the best player for the Clippers this season, and is having a career year. Harris is averaging a team high 21.0 points and 8.2 assists per game this season. Veteran Lou Williams continues to be one of the top bench options in the NBA, pouring in 17.2 points and dishing out 4.5 assists per game. The Clippers are still looking for more depth, but they have a solid top-six.
Spurs Win 4th Straight
A week ago, the Spurs looked like a team that was destined to miss the NBA playoffs, but things have turned around quickly. Popovich has his team playing great basketball again, and DeRozan is leading the team on the offensive end of the floor. The Clippers can put up a ton of points, but they don’t care to play defense. It is always hard to win in San Antonio, and the Clippers won’t be able to get it done. Bet the Spurs -2.5 over the Los Angeles Clippers.
