On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos will finish up their 2023 preseason schedule with a game against each other.
The Rams and Broncos are both 0-2 as they head into their preseason finale. The Rams have losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders in the preseason. Denver has dropped games to the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers on the road.
This game will be played in Denver. The Denver Broncos are the favorites in this game. Denver is listed at -6, while the total for the Saturday night affair is listed at 36.5 points.
Payton and Wilson Looking to Change the Broncos’ Outlook
The Denver Broncos have not reached the postseason since they won the Super Bowl back in 2015 season. In fact, the Broncos have had just one winning season since then.
They went 9-7, but since then, have won seven or fewer games in six straight seasons. Sean Payton, the new head coach, and Russell Wilson want to change that, starting in 2023.
There is no denying the fact that Russell Wilson was very poor last season under the leadership of Nathaniel Hackett. Wilson looked old and weak and could not control the offense. Payton was brought in to get the best out of the veteran.
Wilson will look to get the ball to his offensive weapons, such as Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and Greg Dulcich. A season ago, Jeudy was just 28 yards shy of 1,000 and led the team with six touchdown receptions.
The run game hopefully will see Javonte Williams get the workload. Williams missed all but four games last season, and the Broncos are looking to him as the guy to lead the charge.
Rams With Question Marks All Over
Sean McVay returned as the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams. That answered one of the offseason questions.
There are many more, such as will Cooper Kupp be able to stay on the field with how recklessly he plays at times? Will Cam Akers be that guy the Rams saw in the second half of the season as the lead running back? What youngsters will come through for Los Angeles in 2023?
Akers will get the lead role in from of Kyren Williams. Gone is Darrell Henderson Jr from the running back room. Despite being in and out of the dog house a season ago, Akers finished with 786 yards on the ground and seven touchdowns.
Cooper Kupp is still that guy, but his injuries last season and early in camp this season have the Rams worried. In the nine games he played a season ago, he caught 75 passes for 812 yards and six touchdowns.
He certainly is the guy veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford turns to when he needs a play to be made. Stafford also missed time, playing in nine games as well.
Broncos Win Preseason Finale
The season that the Denver Broncos have will be much different than last season. Sure, the Broncos will have a tough time getting to the postseason. The division is tough. The Chiefs and Chargers are favorites, and the Raiders are not that bad.
Denver was really poor a season ago and poorly coached. Look for Sean Payton to bring some normalcy to the organization, and the process improves. The Broncos want to start playing better football leading into the regular season.
Look for them to do that in this game. Our final bet for the game on Saturday night is the Denver Broncos -6 over the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams fall to 0-3 in preseason play.
