An exciting weekend of NFL football comes to a close with a Monday night matchup in Green Bay between the Los Angeles Rams and the Green Bay Packers.
These two teams were big-time preseason favorites in the NFC, but between injuries and poor production they both found themselves on the outside of the playoff bubble.
It doesn’t mean it can’t make for an exciting game on Lambeau Field, but there is not going to be much to play for in the case of either team.
The Packers are fresh off a bye and it is a bye that is much needed to get their roster fully healthy and available.
Baker Mayfield and the Rams got an extended rest after their thrilling last-second win over the Raiders on Thursday Night Football in Week 14.
The Rams now open this game as underdogs as the Packers get the nod as the favorite on their home field at -5.5.
More magic with Mayfield in Los Angeles
After a rough first half for the Rams in their Week 14 matchup against the Raiders, Baker Mayfield entered the party and absolutely shifted the momentum of the game immediately.
His confidence was high and his energy got the rest of the players on his team going. The snowball effect is real in sports, and that game was a prime example of it.
Hoping to carry that same momentum into Green Bay, Mayfield will gear up for his first official start with Los Angeles. It is a start in this game that is well deserved.
The question is if they have enough firepower to get it done on the road. They certainly don’t have any incentive to lose, so expect a strong showing from who takes the field for the Rams.
Rested and recovered to finish the season
It is a rough go in the long NFL season to have to wait until Week 14 in order to get a bye.
Unfortunately enough for the Packers, that is the situation they found themselves in. They really could have used it sooner with the amount of injuries on their roster.
Showing out in front of their home crowd always takes a certain level of pride, even this late in the season when they have little to no hope of making the postseason.
Expect a big time game from Aaron Rodgers and this team.
Rams @ Packers Betting Prediction
The spread for this game is right in the sweet spot where it shows there isn’t much of a prediction as to what will happen.
There isn’t a lot of film on Baker Mayfield in a Rams’ uniform yet, and with more time to prepare for this game with the offense that should help him tremendously.
For such a strange season for the Packers this year, it is hard to trust them even on their home field. Fresh off a bye should make a huge difference for them.
Take the Packers in Lambeau at -4.5 over the Rams.
