Both of these teams had a pretty easy win to start their season, with opponents that were not even close to the same league as them. LSU was up 21-0 against Georgia Southern before halftime even hit, and up 42-3 by the time they did reach it. They dominated from the outset and got a chance to see each of their top two QB’s in action. The running game didn’t do too much so that will be what they look to get going.
Texas on the other hand returns their star QB to the mix in Sam Ehlinger, who has been sensational throughout his career. His game was on point, and now he’s looking to keep things rolling against a fellow top-10 opponent. They held Louisiana Tech without a single point until the final quarter of play, and as a result picked up a complete blowout win. We even got to see Corey Thompson throw a couple of passes.
ODDS:
The spread for the game is set at LSU -6.5, while the over/under is set at 55.5
Tigers looking to improve to 2-0
Their first year sans Jarrett Stidham began on a high note with the 55-3 drubbing of Georgia Southern last week, and with Texas as their latest opponent, things should be interesting. Joe Burrow completed 23 of 27 passes for 278 yards and five touchdowns, including finding Terance Marshall Jr. in the end zone on three different occasions. This is an offense that is built to dominate, the main reason for them being set at 6.5-point favorites in such a tough battle. Their running game did not take off much, with no player even getting more than nine carries. That’s likely to change.
They came away with a pair of sacks, with Neil Farrell Jr. and Rashard Lawrence each getting to the QB once. A strong pass rush and applying a lot of pressure on Ehlinger will be a huge key to victory.
Texas looking to pull the upset
The No. 9 seed in the country is looking to get to 2-0 with their first big test of the season. Sam Ehlinger went 28 of 38 and threw four touchdown passes in a blowout against Louisiana Tech. He ran eight more times for an additional 34 yards, while Keontay Ingram gained 78 yards on 11 rushes and one score. He is looking to keep it going, and will likely see a whole lot more carries this time around. They spread the love to various receivers, so LSU’s secondary will have their hands full today.
DeMarvion Overshown recorded the team’s only sack, and he had an interception as well. He and Caden Sterns will be looking to make big plays on the defensive end.
LSU comes away with the win in primetime
Make sure you ride with the Tigers. A huge performance is in store for Joe Burrow, who will win the QB battle with Sam Ehlinger. It’s going to be a fun matchup.
