The Cleveland Indians and St. Louis Cardinals are squaring off in a three game series this week at Busch Stadium. Game two of the series will take place on Tuesday night. The Cardinals won the series opener, 4-0 over the Indians on Monday night. Cleveland hopes to even the series with a win in game two.
The Cleveland Indians have a very comfortable lead in the American League Central Division, and appear to be a lock to return to the playoffs. The Cardinals come into this series in third place in the National League Central Division, and are trying to find a way to keep pace with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cleveland Indians are -170 over the Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Kluber Has Been Lights Out for Indians
The reigning Cy Young Award winner, Corey Kluber, is once again pitching at an extremely high level for the Indians. The Indians ace is tied for the Major League lead in wins with 11, and leads all pitchers in WAR. “Klubot” also has a very sparkling ERA of 2.10, and looks to improve upon these numbers on Tuesday night. Kluber continues to prove that he is one of the best pitchers in baseball.
The Indians rank 4th in MLB in total runs scored, and have a lineup that is full of young stars. Shortstop, Francisco Lindor, leads the team in hits and is also one of the best defensive players in baseball. Jose Ramirez leads the team with 23 home runs so far in 2018, and the Indians have a ton of other players with excellent power. The Indians will try to give Kluber plenty of run support in game two of the series.
Martinez Struggling For Cards
Carlos Martinez has not been the same pitcher since he returned from the disabled list earlier this month. The Cardinals need Martinez to pitch like their ace, but the team has lost the last 5 game that Martinez started. The electric right hander gave up 7 runs in just four innings to the Milwaukee Brewers in his last start. If the Cardinals are going to make a run, they are going to need Martinez to return to form.
Jose Martinez continues to lead the Cardinals on offense. The veteran has seen his batting average rise to the .300 mark and has also driven in 47 runs to lead the Cardinals. St. Louis is still waiting for more production from several of their key players, but they have managed to stay close in the Central Division race. The Cardinals offense faces a tough challenge on Tuesday night against Kluber.
Kluber, Indians Win Game Two
This game appears to be a great pitching matchup, but Carlos Martinez will have to prove that he is capable of keeping pace with Kluber. The Indians saw their long win streak come to an end in the series opener, and will be looking to start a new streak on Tuesday. The Cardinals have struggled to find consistent offense this year, and they won’t be able to do much against Kluber. Look for the Indians to bounce back and get a win over the Cardinals in game two.
